Copying this over from "Configuring Pardus":

On a freshly installed 2007.1, I found that default resolution was set at 800x600, even though the monitor, a ViewSonic VP730, usually runs at 1280x1024.

Unfortunately, 800x600 was the highest resolution available within Tasma (the others were 640x480 and 720 x400). The xorg.conf file read as follows;

Quote
Section "Module"
Load "dbe" # Double buffer extension
Load "extmod"
SubSection "extmod"
Option "omit xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension
EndSubSection
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
Load "record"
Load "xtrap"
Load "glx"
Load "dri"
Load "v4l"

EndSection

On removing "800x600" and "640x480" from the "Modes" line and rebooting, the screen resolution changed to 1280x800 with a black band at the top and bottom of the screen. The resolutions available from Tasma are now;

1280x800
1280x768
1152x768
1024x768
800x600
640x480
720x400

Any help with getting the monitor back to running at 1280x1024 @60Hz gratefully accepted.

Ran xorgconfig, everything's now in nice, sharp 1280x1024!
