This is getting more confusing... I just installed Pardus on an office computer and had no problem with Songbird. So, it seems I've done something that's created a problem or conflict on my home system. I may just reinstall Pardus and see if that takes care of the situation. Thanks for all your help everyone.

Well, I reinstalled gstreamer and all plugins and songbird still with no luck. It may be that my next step is to reinstall Pardus and see how that goes. I would like to get this figured out since it looks like we'll be staying with Pardus. My family really seems to like it. This Songbird issue isn't a show-stopper either. I just don't like having a problem I can't work through on my system.

Any other suggestions or ideas would really be appreciated. And I appreciate all the help so far. You guys are great.

Great. I've already begun the process. Thanks again for the help. We'll see where we end up.

Hi all, Still working on this but I've been away for a couple days. Andreas, is there a wildcard command that would allow me to reinstall all the gstreamer plugins with a single command? For example...

Code:
pisi it --reinstall gst-*

Would that get it all? Thanks again.

Thanks for the help. Here's where things are right now. I uninstalled songbird, added the repository as suggested, rebooted (just in case Wink and reinstalled songbird through the package manager. For some reason I'm still getting the same errors and songbird doesn't want to start. I'm still working on this though...

Hi Andreas. It looks to me like I got everything. All the gstreamer plugins are listed in "installed packages". I can't imagine what else could be the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks Andreas. I did download and install Songbird from the link you provided but couldn't seem to get it to run. I'm still getting all the same error messages as when trying to run the program provided by the Songbird homepage. Here's a list of the errors I'm still receiving...

Great, Thanks very much. Installing now.

Hello everyone, the saga continues. I've downloaded the Songbird tar.gz from the Songbird homepage (1.4.3-1438) but can't seem to get it running. Way to many Gstreamer errors and warnings to list. I'm sure I'm just missing something. I've checked my installation of Pardus and it looks like I have all the gstreamer dependencies installed. I did have a quick look at the 7digital store, though, and that looks promising too. Would anyone have an idea why Songbird would be receiving so many errors? Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I have submitted a bug report through Bugzilla about the possibility of including Boost in the repositories (Bug 12157). I have also checked out the other ideas everyone shared except using Songbird, which I will try as soon as I finish this post. It seems that the selection of MP3s available through some of these other services is not quite as extensive as Amazon, but they are impressive. Thanks again. You guys are great.

Wow! Thanks everyone for all the responses and suggestions. I'll try it all. How would I go about requesting the creation of a pisi package for "boost"? Thanks again for all the help.
12  Assistance / Software / Amazon MP3 Downloads on: January 26, 2010, 15:03:36 PM
I'm needing to install the MP3 download program from Amazon in order to be able to purchase MP3s and download them, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. The linux version of the program is only available as a .deb or .rpm file. Is there a way to convert these for use with Pardus 2009.1 or am I just out of luck? I can't seem to find and source for the program either. Any help would be very appreciated.

15  Assistance / Software / [Solved] Installing OpenVPN 2.1 rc10 on: September 22, 2008, 17:29:04 PM
Hello,

Brand new to Pardu. Really like it and installed it. It's quickly becoming my favorite.

I would like to install the latest rc10 of opennvpn 2.1 but I'm having trouble building it from source. I'm unable to use openvpn 2.09 for the scripts I need to use. The error I get on
Code:
./connfigure
is...

Any suggestions or help is very appreciated.
