331  General / The Pub / Re: the threat of popularity on: October 22, 2008, 20:19:18 PM
I fear the day of the mass revolution... No offense to the general public, but the idea of a GUI-driven project where developers have to cater to the simplest of needs is simply degrading to the users of said operating system. Microsoft is the most mass-driven OS in current history, its a disaster despite the fact the people have written more code for the Windows platform than any other. Linux available to the masses means that people with malicious intent will try to create virii and hack other people's computers at a rate that cannot be controlled by even the most advanced of security software.

If you ever need anything translating into Romanian, I'll be more than happy to help Smiley
333  General / The Pub / Re: Just back from Istanbul... on: October 22, 2008, 20:07:03 PM
Romania is just the same... only with stray dogs... good thing they don't develop any good distros or its name would be pretty weird. (Although... K9 (pronounced: kay-nine) would be a pretty cool name... lol)

Glad you had fun there, I'm hoping to go to Turkey next year Tongue

I've read some of your articles, they're very good, did you mean to write "tax" or "tux"? lol
335  General / The Pub / Re: Pardus Wiki Translations? on: October 22, 2008, 20:02:53 PM
Now that PardusWiki is available in English, people should contribute, however little, to translating it into their own native language.
336  General / The Pub / Re: Pardus is awesome on: October 22, 2008, 20:01:28 PM
Amen.

I can't believe the majority of people would pay more for an operating system simply because they trust it/dont know any better.

You should try Ubuntu, its the one unique Linux experience you are missing. Its far inferior to Pardus, but its worth trying out to complete your pallette Smiley
337  Assistance / Pardus Project / Re: Translation issues / REQUEST on: October 22, 2008, 19:49:47 PM
I'm translating .pot files in Romanian at the moment, it'll be included in the next release, whilst there won't be many Romanian users, it'll be there for anyone to use. I think speaking a foreign language and using Pardus makes it a duty to make it available to others, meanwhile Pardus would do well to make more .pot files available that translates web pages.
338  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: [solved]Administrator's password not accepted on: October 22, 2008, 19:44:04 PM
I'm probably missing something which is going to make this post sound pretty much retarded:
Isn't the ability to make the current user Administrator a security hole?
339  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Installing Pardus Calisan 2008.1 on: October 22, 2008, 19:42:16 PM

Is there anything under Games/Desktop that's missing? Anything else that can be uploaded?
I'd just like to ask the readers of this topic to download and seed these torrents, Pardus will be the first distribution in the world with torrent repositories, allowing users to review programs under "Comments", and torrents allow for more flexible downloading than PiSi.
341  General / General topics / Re: Bye bye Pardus 2008 on: October 22, 2008, 19:17:39 PM
I've been using Ubuntu 8.04 since it came out, its manure.

GNOME is unstable, and cannot handle 3-D games (any full-screen games for that matter).
Ubuntu is very proprietary, they have very strict restrictions on how someone can remix their distro etc.
Ubuntu support of firmware is inferior to Pardus.

I'd like to wish you a good day, but, in using Ubuntu, you have crushed that hope.

Long Live
PARDUS
342  General / General topics / Re: Why does Pardus constantly stall and freezes? on: October 22, 2008, 19:11:55 PM
Thanks Smiley

Pressed Control-Alt-Esc, nothing happened... Usually when someone reccomends a shortcut on the internet an application closes or such etc. What does it mean? lol

Nvu is included is in the repositories and can be downloaded using the Package Manager.
344  General / General topics / Re: KDE4.1 anyone? on: October 22, 2008, 19:07:55 PM
I tried to Pardus KDE 4 live CD, it was noticeably slower than KDE 3, I hear KDE 4 has a tonne of bugs that need to be sorted anyways. Still, I hope its included in the next iteration of Pardus, which to be will always be the best KDE distro (Kubuntu is awful).
345  General / General topics / Re: English PardusWiki on: October 22, 2008, 19:02:15 PM
Hey, I've been adding things to PardusWiki recently, is there anything particular you'd like to see included?

Thank you for raising awareness, PardusWiki/Forum are the only ways we can introduce new users to Pardus, and people are completely ignoring the latter.
