Every PardusPC (that means a computer with Linux) should have a unique Workgroup and NetBIOS name in the network.
And when you have more than one PardusPC in the network and you don't change these values, they will all have the same name.
Maybe this is a better definition.  Smiley

I can access the 2 Pardus computers
I expect the problem to be on the win-laptop side.
Did you use this manual?
What is the version of Windows on win-laptop?
Also have a look here #42 and here #46.

There may be minor differences between XP Pro and XP Home regarding networking.
I'm not sure. I thought I'd seen this somewhere?
I don't have XP Home, so I can"t test this version.  Smiley

Hope this is what you want.
I used Windows XP Pro SP3. I don't have a copy of XP Home.
Thank you, have a look in the wiki.  Grin
XP Home?  Huh?   I used WindowsXP Professional (+SP2).

Edit: Because I can't change post #31

Translation of Dutch text

As I don't have an English version of WinXP, I am supplying the exact Dutch text in this manual.
This is to prevent errors.
Anybody with a English version of WinXP is invited to replace this text with the precise English version.
Or post the precise English version at http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=1017.30
And when everything is in English, remove this section.

At this moment I don't have any problems listening to Live365 in FF. Cool
2216  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: kdesu in KDE4? on: December 04, 2008, 14:34:33 PM
Here is my solution if you want a file manager with administrator privileges in KDE4.
In KDE3 I installed Krusader.
After this I switched to KDE4 with CTRL+ALT+F1 and
Quote
........  login: root
Wachtwoord:
.....-pardus ~# service kdebase off
Dienst 'kdebase' zal niet automatische worden gestart.
.....-pardus ~# service kdebase4_workspace on
Dienst 'kdebase4_workspace' wordt automatische gestart.
.....-pardus ~# servcie kdebase4_workspace start
Starting kdebase4_workspace...
.....-pardus ~# reboot
(sorry it's in Dutch)

In KDE4  ALT+F2  krusader +<enter>
In Krusader > Gereedschap (Tools) > Krusader in root modus starten.
And you can do the same as in dolphin or konqueror in root mode.  Grin

As a result of this topic I have added the following new Wiki pages:  Tongue

Setup a fixed IP address for your computer
How to print in Pardus to a remote Pardus + printer
and to compensate for the long time to wait for them
How to access your files on a remote PardusPC

If you find any small/big errors or other remarks ..............you are welcome to report them in this topic.  Cheesy

And a new call for somebody with an English XP version to have a look for the translation of the Dutch text in this Wiki page.  Huh?

It is time for a bug report.
Look here.
And I made a modification to the wiki.

Edit: Also look here and here.
2219  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: bug in tasma? samba users lost! on: November 30, 2008, 10:07:30 AM
The problem is in Samba.
After downgrading to samba-3.0.31-35-4.pisi the problem is gone.  Grin
It is time for a bug report.
The protocol to transfer files is still working.
Only the part to change settings has a problem.
2220  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: bug in tasma? samba users lost! on: November 29, 2008, 22:30:55 PM
Samba seems to be working. Smiley
I can make contact and read/write with the remote side with:
Quote
smb:// IP.address.of.the.remote.site
Try it.
I guess that the problem is in Tasma > Internet & Network > Samba
I think the communication between Samba and /etc/samba/smb.conf is the problem.  Angry
