46  Assistance / Software / Bug with Launchy on: July 23, 2009, 10:23:50 AM
I used to have katapult on 2008, but since it is not available in the repos I tried Launchy.
My issues are:
1. it freezes now and then
2. when I exit the session, I get an error message from the system

Basically, it is not half as good as katapult for me.

Do any of you guys experience the same issues befaore I file a bug?

Running Pardus 2009 on an ACER Aspire 4810T with no hitch, nearly everything is working out of the box.   Cheesy
The only thing not working is the more light less light fn shortcut.
Pardus 2009 is amazing, congrats to the developers....

Welcome to Pardus Mercurio!  Grin

You'll see: once you've tried Pardus, you never go back to other distros!  Wink

Are they still on schedule for today?
There seems to be no signs of a release anywhere?
53  General / The Pub / Google to launch its own OS! on: July 08, 2009, 11:24:20 AM
Based on GNU/Linux no doubt.

A bit cheeky to say "We are completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates."
By that I guess they mean: "we are using GNU/Linux code all the way and making it look Google-like"

But good news nonetheless though for FOSS!  Cheesy

Please allow for PhiX to be a non-English native speaker, I am sure he meant no disrespect. He could have used "couldn't" instead of "can't" but I cannot read any annoyance in his response, allthemore that PhiX has to be the most helpful and patient guy in this forum.

60  General / General topics / Re: What is Pardus? on: June 16, 2009, 10:45:42 AM
Okay, I know that Pardus is an excellent KDE-based Linux distro. However, my question refers to the underlying structure of Pardus. So far, I have used distributions that fall into one of the following packaging categories:
1. RPM - Redhat, Mandriva, openSUSE et al
2. DEB  - Debian, Ubuntu ...
3. TGZ - Slackware

You can find cheatsheets here http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20080922 and here http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20080929and a graph showing all the distros and their origin on this page http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20090105
Hope that helps  Cheesy
