1  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Hibernation problem due to problems with swap partition? on: February 08, 2009, 10:52:45 AM
Hej all!

I tried to use hibernation/suspend to disk but following a few seconds of blank screen hard disk activity the screen switches back to normal.
In solving the problem I stumbled upon swap space. So I have 2GB of RAM and I specified slightly more than those 2GB as swap space during my recent installation of Pardus 2008.2. I still feel little doubtful about this swap being really used for two reasons:

- ksysguard gives the right swap memory capacity in the graphs BUT says there is no swap memory available
- in fstab I found following entry regarding the swap drive
Code:
LABEL=PARDUS_SWAP    none             swap      defaults,sw          0 0

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? and how could I find out the right sda* drive number to eventually enter the swap drive to mtab/fstab manually?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!
Benedikt

PS.: Hardware: HP Compaq nx6325, Turion X2 1,6GHz, 2GB RAM

I have tested SciDAVis in Windows now and it is a really great Origin replacement. I like it a lot! A very easy (at least compared to Origin 7 which I have tried before) and  powerful tool.
I think it would be a great package to have. a first try to self-compile failed, but I did not go deeper any further.
R and RKward is also included in the testruns, we will see Wink

PS.: By the way, not even Ubuntu has it in its repos!

I know, R does almost everything, but does it also curve fitting? At least I could not find anything about this function and rkward Sad
Anyhow, I will give it a try as soon as I am home.

and thanks a lot for your suggestions! they are highly appreciated!

wow, this was fast Cheesy
These programs look great but I would also need a curve fitting feature (mainly mono- and biexponential decay), which I have not found, yet, having only a short glance at the feature lists.

Hello and welcome beneedict,

Scidavis looks really nice and easy indeed. I downloaded and tried to run the binary, but it failed.

Same here, also tried to run the binary but failed because it was requiring a python 2.4 library (Pardus 2008.1 comes obviously with 2.5). If I find the time, I will try to compile and pack it myself, but this might take a while since I do not have any clue of pisi packages (though I found the wiki instructions). We will see Wink

Hi!
This is my first post and I am glad it took so long until I found a reason to post something Wink

As given in the title I am looking for a origin/sigmaplot like software for plotting and curve fitting (my last piece missing for replacing proprietary completely). According to the webpage SciDaVis ( http://scidavis.sourceforge.net/ ) looks very promising! Sadly I did not find this or a similar powerful software in the repos. Does anyone have suggestions which recommendable software fulfilling my requirements is already found in the repos or could anyone provide a package for SciDaVis?

Thank you in advance!
Benedikt
