Yes, yes it is, atolboo! And i still don't understand why it works with some distroes and not with others; i wish i cuold have the knowledge to "port" the right packages on every distro i use, in order to have always all the hardware and software functional, but i don't. It's weird how some distroes have some functionality that others lack, and vice-versa O_o This means that virtually a distro could handle all in the right way, but for some reason it doesn't! How can it be? I mean: when a given function is available on one distro, how can i undestrand what is going right and reproduce it on another disto? Is there a way to do so?

Assistance / Bugs / Re: Compizfusion icon and Firefox

Hi there! Thanks for the welcome So, what i mean is quite what you're sayng, azra, but what it's wrong to me is that i'm not trying to open a file like .odt or .torrent, i'm simply asking firefox to open the folder where it downloaded it. I've checked the "file association" panel", but i think it's not what i'm in need of: as i said, it's not a "open file" problem, but an "open folder containing the file" one. And Kde is still asking me of the compiz-icon, even if compizfusion is no longer installed (nor the compiz-icon itself). Thank you for the help, though! ^^ p.s.: ok, i've got news: firefox doesn't allow me to open ANYTHING, it always asks me what program i would use, even if it's a .pdf! Furthermore, it's doesn't list the available programs, it just gives me the "choose program" option O_o And when i click it, it appears, in a Kde enviroment, a gnome interface, weird enough... I know i'm adding problems to problems, sorry!

About Firefox, i know that i should tell him how to handle the file, but how do i tell him to use kde? O_o Furthermore, every distro i've tried handles this automatically: it's surprising pardus, with all it's automatizations, lacks this one.

Assistance / Bugs / Compizfusion icon and Firefox

Hi! I experienced recursively a problem with firefox: when i download something and i right-click it in the download window, as i click "open folder", then it opens the "launch application" dialog, asking me to select the right programm O_o I think it's not the right behavior, is it? Then again, another issue i have is that the compizfusion icon, uninstalled as the whole compizfusion since it made my Pardus slower and affected by visual problems (such dark windows when moving them and so on), is still requested by kde when entering the desktop. A way to COMPLETELY delete it? I guess it's not been erased from the "service" deamon (or how it's called). Thanks for the help!

Wow, my third post in a day :p This is the problem: my Sony blablabla (read the subject ^^) isn't recognized by the system. I red adout a hal fix and another one to libmtp, but those guides were for ubuntu distro, thus completely useless to me. Does anyone have the same problem? Can someone help me?

Assistance / Software / [SOLVED] Java issue
|
on: December 26, 2008, 12:54:15 PM

Hi! This is my problem: i use to use (sorry for the alliteration :p) a programm for hieroglypic writing on pc, which is in java. Once i installed Pardus, i downloaded it (it's opensource ;-) ) and tried to install it as usual, but it failed to. I've checked if java was installed, i even installed jre-5,0 but the system still recognizes the java package as an "ark" one, so it doesn't start installation when clicked, opening ark page instead. Do i have to install some needed package? Or is anyone aware of a workaround? Thank you!

Assistance / Hardware / Network manager issue?

Hi there! I don't know where to post it, so i try Hardware. This is what happens: when i put Pardus to suspend to ram and i subsequently raise it, the connection to internet doesn't work two times on three, and even when it works, it's a matter of time it'll stop functioning. Of course, i reboot the system and it eventually works again, but it's a bit annoying :p Can anyone help me? ^_^

Hi! I'm using an Acer Aspire 5220 and Pardus works perfectly! Even the volume wheel's working without any issue (and no other distro i tried had done this)! To me, it's a good choice ;-)
