16  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Pardus 2011 + XFCE [Nusrat] released on: March 21, 2011, 01:33:02 AM
Awesome!!!

ETA: I meant awesome that the XFCE version was released. Is this release on behalf of Pardus or is it your own?

it is on behalf of pardus and developed by ÇoMak team (we know them from 64bit pardus project). i guess there is a protocol between ÇoMaK team and Tubitak about this project and results of this work will participate pardus project directly.

19  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: ATI Video Drivers [Radeon Sapphire 1650 PRO] Pardus 2011 on: March 13, 2011, 04:30:43 AM
the latest linux release for x1650 series is catalyst 9.3. so you can do a search about this package. if you cant find, you can contact with fatih aşıcı packager of fglrx (also fglrx 9.3) via mail: fatih [at] pardus.org.tr to ask about 9.3 package and pardus version.

Confuse-mode is on.

Version 2007, 2008.2 or 2009.2. 2007 is too old, i understand that. But what with 2008.2 and 2009.2? - Can anybody confirm that ATI card (title) will work on that Pardus? I have here one last cd - i must make my mind on that x).

if you have an usb stick, you can install from usb to do not waste cds. click here...

@BellaPup

when i saying payment i mean buying a product. if i bought a product, why cant i use it with linux?  why should i wait for non-official drivers, while windows users doesnt have to wait? now i am writing this message on windows, cos i couldnt get my ati x2500 card work with any of linux distributions.

but as i said before, they dont sell those products by force. we buy them...

ATI has since merged with AMD Corporation and has taken steps to make their hardware documentation available for use by the free software community

"Enemy of your freedom" is a mute point now. Freedom does not mean Only great drivers will be released.. This is probably why I needed to use "fail safe" when installing Pardus 2009.2 with my Nvidia card, and after installation I  could install and use the proprietary driver. Worked great.

making hardware documentation available for free software community is a good move of course but this is another point. if you stop giving support for x series for linux although you got payment, so what the linux users do with their unsupported x series card?

but they dont sell those cards to us by force of course.

@Oneit
you can try pardus 2008. i had used 2008 with ati radeon 1600 with no problem.

23  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Planning on a free Pardus magazine on: March 08, 2011, 12:13:08 PM
I hope it will be real someday. Pardus official homepage are not so often updated:
http://www.pardus.org.tr/eng/spread/

Not even the Turkish one:
http://www.pardus.org.tr/tanitin/

And many other stuffs there refeer to older versions.
so a english e-magazine would be welcome.

Something similar to this:
http://pclosmag.com/html/enter.html

for the begining it can be a little magazine contains user experiences about some programs and may be pardus tools...
and also stories like meeting pardus, communities etc... i think it havent got to be in an official form. it can be a little bit independent...
24  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: Pardus review that needs your attention!! on: March 07, 2011, 18:09:51 PM
pisi must update automatically after installation i think. cos most of users cant realise they must update repos first (like as the review  Smiley)...
25  General / The Pub / Re: What are you listening to? on: February 07, 2011, 03:03:33 AM
nowadays i listen obsessedly barış manço's "lonely man" and "tell me old man" songs. both songs are old turkish folk songs covered with english lyrics by manço. we grew up with his songs and tv shows. last week was his 12th dead anniversary. i guess my generation really miss him...

hi and welcome...
27  General / Wish list / Re: Missing killer feature :) on: January 22, 2011, 17:42:38 PM
Thinking of it there used to be an application pisibul that pointed at svn to build packages from source.
I bet it could be changed with little effort to point at a specific repo. Or from scratch in qt based on package-manager but seperate and not linked to so that people know they are using unsupported community packages....hmmm
That way users could be warned and would use a specific application for building community packages.

/goes off looking for source code for pisibul/

30  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: How to activate the built-in thesaurus in Pardus OpenOffice.org Writer on: December 25, 2010, 23:30:26 PM
Excellent!! Thank you very, very much Gölge. You saved my day! Smiley I can now access the thesaurus by going to Tools>Language>Thesaurus. Great!

I am sure I seem greedy but is there any way I can access it by right-clicking on a word? Smiley

you can use f7 key to see offers after selecting any word. i guess there is no right click access...
