Another Pardus user in New Mexico, though by the looks of the locations, at the other end.

wxcam and camstream are both in the contrib-devel repository. I'm not familiar enough with the workings of the system to know whether that means they'll move through to contrib at some point or if there's a need to request it.
153  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: xbindkeys on: August 17, 2009, 23:25:55 PM
To use packages (e.g. xsane) from the devel repos, I added:
Code:
2009-devel [active]
   http://svn.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2009/devel/pisi-index.xml.bz2
contrib-devel [active]
   http://svn.pardus.org.tr/contrib/2009/devel/pisi-index.xml.bz2
to my repo list, and then ran:
Code:
sudo pisi bi xsane
and then installed the generated .pisi file. My question is: Is this the best (proper) way to do it or is there an easier way?

For 2009, install the b43-fwcutter package, then follow the instructions for Fedora from http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43. Then it works apart from the status light on the switch.
155  Assistance / Hardware / Wacom tablet problem. on: July 27, 2009, 00:03:29 AM
I'm having a problem with my Wacom Bamboo tablet under Pardus 2009.

The tablet is recognized correctly by the system, and I do have the linuxwacom driver installed. However when I fire up the gimp, it does not recognize three separate input tools -- whereas Kubuntu (Jaunty) does

The only significant differences that I see in /var/log/messages are a couple of logger lines in Kubuntu that are not present in Pardus.

Jul 26 15:48:33 xena logger: device input8 is bound to the driver
Jul 26 15:48:34 xena logger: must rebind

and a somewhat more detailed but functionally identical (as far as I can see) set of kernel messages on the Pardus box:

Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.711027] usb 3-3: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4
Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.911526] usb 3-3: New USB device found, idVendor=056a, idProduct=0065
Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.911532] usb 3-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.911536] usb 3-3: Product: MTE-450
Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.911539] usb 3-3: Manufacturer: Wacom Co.,Ltd.
Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.911676] usb 3-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jul 26 15:57:40 amarice kernel: [24028.915790] input: Wacom Bamboo as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb3/3-3/3-3:1.0/input/input8

(Only the first and last two lines appear on Kubuntu).

Is there something else I need to install, or is something not working quite right?
156  General / General topics / Re: How did you hear about Pardus? on: July 26, 2009, 03:23:36 AM
I saw the 2009 RC2 on Distrowatch, and some links to reviews on fsdaily.

So when 2009 final came out I decided to try it on my "crash & burn" machine. So far looks nice.
157  Assistance / Laptop / Re: Pardus v2009 RC2 install on HP 2133 on: July 25, 2009, 16:48:09 PM
Did you install the b43-fwcutter package?

I'm considering Pardus on my HP2133, and I know (a) that package was needed in Kubuntu and (b) it's in the repositories for Pardus (not sure if it's main or contrib).

Note added 3/8/09:
To install the Broadcom firmware, you should follow the instructions for Fedora on http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 (with the obvious change of package installer). Then wireless works on my machine although the state LED does not -- it always indicates ON.
