1  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / How to start services from the command line? on: April 01, 2007, 23:20:19 PM
or, maybe more easier:

service [servicename] start

"service list" or just "service" will give you a list of services

Another French friend is working on the packages, but note that he also needs some help. Please send him a message (Robert Joseph Adolle - r.j.adolle@wanadoo.fr) about how you can collaborate in the near future.

I can open a mailing list for you, if you wish.

Please let me know if you need further details. I prefer direct e-mails - since I don't read Pardus forum everyday.

Thanks for your support in Pardus!

Thanks for your sincere opinions. Currently Pardus lacks French support - please let me (gorkem _at_ pardus.org.tr) know if you would like to push things forward in this area. We have many French Pardus users, however what they would like to see is a Linux distro in their language.

You can also check pardus.org.tr/eng/projects/translation to see what should be done to give French support for Pardus.

Opera is in contribution (contrib) repository. You can install it with the following command:

sudo pisi bi http://svn.pardus.org.tr/contrib/applications/network/opera/

And then install it usual way:

sudo pisi install opera*pisi
7  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / how to make a local repository? on: January 27, 2007, 15:01:54 PM
Great - please let me know if you have any problems and we can fix it ;-)
8  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / how to make a local repository? on: January 26, 2007, 23:47:33 PM
PISI can add a local repository as well. First you need to create an index for all the downloaded files. Go to the directory you have downloaded files and do this:

sudo pisi ix

where ix means "index". This will create a pisi-index.xml.bz2 file in the current directory. Add this file as a repository:

sudo pisi ar /directory/where/index/file/is/pisi-index.xml.bz2

where ar means "add repository".

That's it.. Just install any file the way you do and they will be fetched from your hard disk (or DVD).
