It's "too stable" and "too nice" to be sitting around #54 on distrowatch  Sad

I tried to spell out here that if it had an extra column showing all the latest packages that get update after the iso has been released people would have a reason to click and see if the latest package version is now in Pardus e.g FireFox on the iso is but on pisi up as of today we get and certain bleeding edge lovers like me constantly want to see, at the click of a button, how bleeding edge a distro is   Lips Sealed

PCLinuxOS has an apt column
Debian has a sid column
Ubuntu has a snapshot column but Pardus
No pisi column  Huh?

Great - please let me know if you have any problems and we can fix it ;-)

Please help me. I half installed my applications using:

pisi it *.pisi

Then I found out I could do the pisi ix way.

(Background info: I dump all my pisi packages in a folder on my home machine so that the apps are the same as the ones on my work machine)

I now get an error that tells me that mkinitrd requires coolplug >= 2.00 and I cannot install my latestkernel or any other package after that  Huh?

It seems that the Package Manager program fails to use the proxy as set up in Tasma to connect to the internet to download updates.  It tries to make a direct connection,  but fails.  For those of us who use a proxy,  this is a real problem.  Every time I try to use Package Manager I get the error about checking network settings and trying again.  Hopefully,  this will be resolved with future updates.

That makes sense. I noticed in Synaptic there is an option for direct connection or proxy.
Hope a dev sees this and adds that option or a workaround  Wink

I get the same message even if there is 1 package in the directory I am trying to index. Did this change with the updated pisi package?

I tried again today to export http_proxy as described above,  this time after using network manager to set up the nameservers.  This time,  I got pisi up to work.  I was still unable to connect to the internet using firefox,  but konqueror works perfectly.  I'll live without firefox.  I'm just glad I could get all of the updates.  Thanks for your help!

You got pisi to work but is Package Manager able to download?

Are you by any chance behind a proxy?

Yep I am, could that be the problem?
12  Assistance / Software / pisi ix error on: March 26, 2007, 13:53:46 PM
What could be causing this when I run pisi ix:
roe pardus # pisi ix
Indexing current directory.
* Building index of PiSi files under .
System Error. Program Terminated.
'NoneType' object has no attribute 'obsoletes'
Please use 'pisi help' for general help.

I have updated to 2007.1 and still no change  Sad
14  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / 3rd Install on: March 20, 2007, 10:43:55 AM
I have installed for the 3rd time and I noticed that if a package is already in /var/cache/pisi/packages/ Package Manager can install the package but if I need to update the database or the package has to be downloaded Package Manager fails.

On the CL things work flawless.
