That's a nice guide atolboo, thanks for your good work. If I were to install Pardus on the second drive, will Pardus still make the dual boot menu to choose between Windows and Pardus? And would I still install grub on the MBR of the first (Windows) drive? Thanks. Dale

Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Unhandled exception error at end of install to USB stick

Hi Lisa Marie, Thanks for your replies. Maybe I will try it again but this time to the hard drive, once I get the drive imaged. I am using an old Compaq nc6000 laptop with only 512MB of memory. This runs Pardus 2009.2 well enough but maybe the low amount of memory might have something to do with the install to USB failing. I am only guessing though and probably wrong. I had similar problems with the 2011 beta and RC releases and never got one to install, but recently I installed 2011 on my partners laptop and it went ok, maybe I was just lucky that time... If the 2011.1 install to my laptop fails I will try 2011 and then if it goes ok I can update to 2011.1 with Pisi. I want to install Pardus for other people so I need the install to work consistently or it will put them off Linux. Cheers, Dale

Assistance / Installing Pardus / Can desktop effects be disabled on boot from live CD or USB?

Just wondering, can desktop effects be disabled on boot from live CD or USB? Depending on the machine being used, the whole screen and any open windows look a real mess (a patchwork of multi-coloured blur) when desktop effects are switched on, as they are by default. It's just possible to see enough to go in and turn them off if you know where to look for the buttons etc. but it would be better IMHO for them to be off by default. This is on Pardus 2011.1 and was the same on 2009.2. Alt+Shift+F12 doesn't work.

Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Missing Desktop Theme Details icon in System Settings - Pardus 2011.1
|
on: July 31, 2011, 18:39:54 PM
|
|
Greetings,
I notice that there are 47 icons in 2009.2 System Settings and only 36 in 20011.1, and although I see some have been merged together there still seem to be some missing. For example, I can't find Desktop Theme Details. This is useful for things like being able to change the default analog clock that is associated with a given theme. Can anyone give me a clue as to where it is?
Thanks.

So, I want to report some bugs but cannot figure out how to get the backtrace information from it's window to somewhere else.
Can you give more info on the problems/bugs? The installation version, from the booted USB stick: If I try to validate, or choose any other partitioning option besides "Use All Space", it throws an exception and I can't continue. Also, I cannot capture and send the backtrace. If I choose "Use All Space", I can continue with the installation, but then the install process freezes at "Installing mplayer". The live version: Doesn't boot. Can't remember the details at the moment. I know. I've already made an account and reported the one bug that didn't have any backtrace infomation: http://bugs.pardus.org.tr/show_bug.cgi?id=14853I've seen one posted so I guess there must be a way to do it.
Where did you see this? Here: http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=3442.15But maybe the poster was using a VM. [...]

Well, my connection got a lot better after a few hours and I was able to download the files. So, I want to report some bugs but cannot figure out how to get the backtrace information from it's window to somewhere else. I've seen one posted so I guess there must be a way to do it. Can anyone enlighten me? I realise I could do it using a VM but I can't do that on the laptop I am using for this because there is no OS installed on the drive.
