2  Pardus Anka / Pardus Anka Project / An IRC chat on: September 04, 2012, 00:35:13 AM
Somebody in this forum linked a IRC channel where a have chatted.
I have chatted only with "obsoleteman" (om) that tell me that world forum is not accessible from turkey belike there is a turkey fiirewall. So world forum is banned in Turkey. We needed a new forum that is not banned in Turkey.

OM tell me that they need developers, tell me that the new iso is from metalmanbaris and this guy speaks english. He is from time to time in the irc channel.

A very short English summary of Mr. Nihad Karslı's message:

PARDUS 2012 ANKA "TEST" VERSION (64-bit) is now available.

Repeat: This is only a "TEST" version. Only 64-bit. Only those who consider themselves to be experts should try it. Non-experts should be cautious. Please be patient for the ultimate, approved version to be announced.

If you try this test version, we would appreciate any feedbacks. Please send them to:

pisiciftligi@pardus-linux.org

Pardus users should never lose hope. Pardus belongs to us, the users, the people, and not to the establishment (TUBITAK), as we had already declared, seven years ago.

Following days: Upon your kind feedbacks and other further studies, FINAL SET-UP "iso" FİLE will be published.

Remain free and with love,

Nihad Karslı
Attorney-at-Law
President
PKD (Pardus Users Association-Pardus Kullanıcıları Derneği)

P.S.: The new Pardus is at:

http://paketler.pardus-linux.org/pardus/2012/testing/x86_64/pisi-index.x...

Testers should remove other depositories and instead, install the above repo. Reminder: Only 64-bit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A very short English summary of "kuftikufti"s two messages:

Allow 8-10 GB for ANKA on a free disk space. Set up 2011.2 fresh. Don't use "virtual machine". This is only for testers, not for ordinary users.

Setting-up ANKA depository:

1) Set up Pardus 2011.2 on a free disk space.

2) Start Pisi and remove "module-virtualbox-guest, module-virtualbox-guest-userspace ve virtualbox-guest-utils".

Virtualbox package at ANKA depo has problems. We are trying to solve them.

3) Add new ANKA depo:

http://paketler.pardus-linux.org/pardus/2012/testing/x86_64/pisi-index.x...

Remember: The above is a stand-alone depo. Remove others (official stable, devel, PLO) or uncheck (toggle-off) them.

OR, use the Konsole:

sudo pisi dr pardus

sudo pisi ar anka http://paketler.pardus-linux.org/pardus/2012/testing/x86_64/pisi-index.x...

sudo pisi ur

4) Upon adding the new ANKA depo, update using Pisi's update feature.

5) During update, Pisi will warn about 4 conflicts:

a) digikam - kipi-plugins

b) libkipi - kdegraphics

c) marble - kdeedu-marble

d) kdebase - konqueror-plugins

(...)

6) Approx. 1.5 GB total, 350 MB download, 200 packages update, 50 new packages.

Upon restart, choose Pardus 3.2.5 on GRUB screen. Your system should start with kernel 3.2.5 and KDE4.8.2. If you have another Pardus in your machine (your daily Pardus), you should back-up "grub.conf" files. You may need to manually add these files into the new GRUB.

ANKA depository has approx. 5,200 packages, 22,300 Pisi files, 54 GB.

4  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: The main problem of Pardus on: February 24, 2012, 23:09:40 PM
If I understand coreclly question is about configuring network from CLI.I never need that option so I can not tell if one exist or not.Someone with more knowledge can answer this.

Yes, "configuring network" and "setup", "creating a new network", "test a driver that is partially works", ecc.
5  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: emergency mode on: February 22, 2012, 23:52:25 PM
What do you mean by emergency mode Huh?
Or what should this mode do.

And Grub of Pardus has the options:
1. F3 Boot and select Failsafe
2. F4 Graphical Display and select Failsafe.

I mean Failsafe. But in my dama dama I have F3 for boot and F4 for Graphical Dispaly. I have not failsafe.
Maybe i have a problem with the keyboard at boot time, i have disable USB legacy mode in my BIOS and I have a usb keyboard.

Thanks for the info.

All fares please!
But there is a little problem, if the system is suspended in RAM then the commands must be repeated.
7  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: script for wi-fi on: February 21, 2012, 19:47:03 PM
I have solved the problem to put the command in:
/etc/conf.d/local.start

Hello Sandro,
They obviously haven't had to play Suse style configurations.
Are there no documentations describing intial startup and configurations anywhere ?

No there is no documentation, there is no files to setup.
10  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / The main problem of Pardus on: February 04, 2012, 21:50:14 PM
An IT journalist has examine the first 100 distros of distrowach in the year 2007. And has asked for the big problem of the manual settings of network interface. There is no answers about this question.

A pardus user has say:
Quote
I only started using Pardus yesterday but I've read all the articles on the website (the ones in english, at least). I may not be 100% correct but I'll explain things as I understand them.
The problem is that Pardus manages services in a completely different way to the SysV init scritps that you're familiar with. The fact is the scripts you're looking for don't really exist. Network interfaces - just like all other services - are configured by Comar at the request of the Network Manger or Network Applet. These request are made through Comar's python bindings. While writing a command line tool should be no more  difficult than a GUI one, I can't find one in the standard installation, so I can only assume that there isn't one.
I realize that's not exactly the answer you were hoping for but I hope it helps in some way.

There are not configuration file like /etc/network/interfaces, there are not manual configuration script of interfaces.

Developers not answered, there is a lack of communication between the tech guys that set their network and there is nothing manual tool that can interfaces with Comar.

It is a big problem for Pardus and skilled pardus user.
11  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / script for wi-fi on: January 22, 2012, 23:47:12 PM
I have manually write like super user this commands:

Code:
iwconfig wlan0 mode Ad-hoc
iwconfig wlan0 essid pardus
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.0.1
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
ifconfig wlan0 up

They setting my wifi usb key. I would like transform this commands in a script.  Where can I put this script in pardus 2001.1? The howto that i have read say /etc/network/interfaces, but in pardus there is not this file.
12  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Pardus 2011.1 ACPI problem in plasma/kde on: November 17, 2011, 19:08:04 PM

13  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Pardus 2011.1 ACPI problem in plasma/kde on: August 30, 2011, 15:38:15 PM
Ok, i suppose i have find the trouble:

The problem in ntrack:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268038

ntrack 014 has a known issue that causes this infinite loop
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ntrack/+bug/755608).  It will be fixed in ntrack
015.

http://old.nabble.com/Removed-ntrack-dependency-from-kdebase4-runtime-td32271148.html

Looks like ntrack caused us a lot of troubles and being an optional
dependency I removed it from build dependencies of kdebase4-runtime. If
it proves to be stable/useful again we can always add it back.

********

So the solution are two: cut ntrack or wait for ntrack 015. Pardus 2011.1 has the old ntrack 011:

# pisi info ntrack
Installed package:
Name                : ntrack, version: 0.011, release: 1

14  Assistance / Bugs / Re: kded4 hangs when disconnect from dial up connection, or VPN, too on: August 23, 2011, 14:30:08 PM
Maybe Sandro can try this?

Code:
There I set autoload and load-on-demand options to false:

X-KDE-Kded-autoload=false
X-KDE-Kded-load-on-demand=false

Then - unloaded the module manually
$ qdbus org.kde.kded /kded unloadModule networkstatus
and restarted kded4
$ qdbus org.kde.kded /kded quit
$ kded4 &

try it but without luky, restart and it is the same: don't works: when i stop internet connection in kppp kded4 goes to 100% cpu.
