16  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: In a triple boot setup how do I read from each OS on: November 04, 2011, 13:38:48 PM
Perhaps you have the PCLinux partition password protected or encrypted?

I suspect the issue revolves somewhere around this issue or something similar.  Windows isn'r a vewry secure system by default, especially when compared to Linux; one of the reasons why viruses and hacking is so common in WindowsWorld.

Just got the FGLRX 11.10 pushed to me. My system definitely feels smoother AND seems to be using fewer resources...dunno why that would be, but I'm not gonna complain!!!!

My startup sound is even sounding better...it's been crackly and poor sounding since day 1. Still not as good as other distros, but it's a minor thing.

I like Google Translate It even has somewhat persistent translation spanning web pages....

No worries Lisa...easy to do since most of the Asus notebooks are indeed Intel based.

I finally got XFCE properly installed and tossed Cairo in to boot!  XFCE is soo much faster than KDE....haven't got package manager working yet tho.

Would like to get wobbly windows working in XFCE...Compiz needed, I think....

Just checked again...Package Manager seems to be working fine now.

Now to get LXDE, E17 and Gnome all working properly

Actually, the A6-3400 is the new AMD Llano Fusion cpu. My laptop has the Fusion quadcore CPU with Radeon mobile GPU built onto the CPU, plus a dedicated mobile GPU wth 1 gig RAM. Apparently  either xorg or Linux 3.x kernel has issues with the dual core and the screen is just black on boot. Pardus is one of the few distros that didn't have that problem AND was dead easy to install the 11.8 Catalyst driver, once it was put in the regular repository.

So far, of all the most recent Linux distros, Pardus is the only one that both installs properly AND provides easy access to the lates video drivers, etc..for my Asus K53 AMD A6. None of the most recent Buntus and derivatives work at all..I just get black screen when trying to boot into them.

I have no issues with multiple repos. Most distros have numerous repos...I look at the number of repos as a sign of the health of the project and, more importantly, the user/developer community.

24  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Pardus 2011.2 is available on: September 27, 2011, 23:20:02 PM
I have added the paketler devel repository. Not sure if that repository pushed 6.02 or the testing repo. Didn't pay attention...sorry.

28  Assistance / Software / Acetoneiso error message on: September 20, 2011, 15:36:35 PM
Since I get an error message in K3B every time I burn a CD or DVD at around 95% I decided to download and try Acetoneiso as an alternative burner. For burning DVD's it works fine, no error messages at 95%. However, when I try to burn to a CD I get this missing package error message:

Unable to find wodim in /usr/bin.
Please install wodim package.

Any ideas for an easy way to fix this?
29  Assistance / Software / Re: replacement for itunes (ipod) on: September 20, 2011, 14:50:56 PM
Thanks for your kind words wrt Irene. Luckily Arkansas was not in Irene's path. Unfortunately for Arkansas though, I think they are in the midst of a serious drought.  Or am I wrong?

I am no help with iPod issues either, unfortunately.

From the sounds of it 2011.2 is a minor bugfix release.  Can I assume that the by remaining current with the repo updates my system is in effect at 2011.2?
