There is a saying in Turkish: "Silent like a grave!". People who are/were in close relation with Pardus (former Pardus employees, contributors, etc.) are all silent these days. Nobody is talking, nobody comments on anything. Everybody is waiting for the workshop silently. Even in the ozgurlukicin forums, the seniors aren't around for some time.

You are living in the good country, I think Smiley
Here (in Russia) so called "Workshops" are just a way to steal money and to do nothing.
That's why I'm so pessimistic about workshop.
I share the same feelings with you. I am pessimistic about the consequences of this "workshop". Even the time schedule of the workshop shows that it is done just to show some people are trying to do something!

Honestly, I do not believe anything good will come up from this workshop. Sorry for being this much pessimist, but it is how I feel!

...or Anil (former Pardsu developers)...

Anil is not an "official" developer.
But that does not mean he is not a great contributor to the project and the community  Wink

Guys, you should take a look at this; http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/forum/haberler/23880/

Ozgurlukicin forum decided to track the transformation process of Pardus. So this thread was opened. This thread also aims to stop rumors among community and give better & healthier information.

You will see the English translation of the news given by Ozgurlukicin moderators at the end of 1st entry.

Have a look at http://code.google.com/p/happy-kitty/. Anil Ozbek has done a great job regarding games on Pardus. The way he preferred is "emerging" packages. So he just keeps build files (ie. http://happy-kitty.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/game/action/balloonchase/)

Or you may directly send your compiled packages along with your build files to pardususer.de repo or pardus-linux.org repo, which are both unofficial community repos.

And a viewpoint on the "Dec 31st; Erkan Tekman" item can be found at:

http://translate.google.com/ does a rather good job on this one (although I don't need it in this case)
Thanks, I have read it via google translate.

Yes, there are people who blame Erkan Tekman for 6 years of Pardus with limited progress. They believe Pardus would do better without him.

But there are also people who say Erkan Tekman was the one to defend Pardus and kept it alive against the harsh opposition on the government (official) side! They say Pardus would already be forgotten without him!

I honestly do not know which is true. But I know we need to wait and see. Change is good, hope the change brings a fresh start!

...and I highly do appreciate your actions to keep us up-to-date.
Thank you.

(and my wish is that http://translate.google.com would do a better TR>what-ever-other-language translation)
Turkish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ural%E2%80%93Altaic_languages) & English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-European_languages) do not belong to the same language family, they are a lot different from each other. So you should not expect anything better soon  Cheesy

Interesting news continue coming from TUBITAK!

Erkan Tekman, Project Manager of Pardus, has resigned from his job and from TUBITAK! He was the project manager since the beginning of the project!

Also another developer who was insistent to continue with the project, Ozan Caglayan was assigned to other projects of TUBITAK. It means another developer has left the project!

Here is the chronology of developments as far as I have followed;
Nov 2nd; "4 developers have left the project for different reasons, no new recruits coming" says Erkan Tekman.
(source: http://developer.pardus.org.tr/people/tekman/blog/?p=220)

Nov 28th; Koray Loker (community coordinator and developer) quits.
(source: http://developer.pardus.org.tr/people/loker/blog/alnina-koyarken-veda-buseni/)

Dec 12th; 2 more developers quit
(source: http://liste.pardus.org.tr/gelistirici/2011-December/057179.html)
(source: http://liste.pardus.org.tr/gelistirici/2011-December/057180.html)

Dec 26th; Gokmen Goksel (developer) says he already quitted by Dec 14th.
(source: http://blog.gokmengoksel.com/2011/12/ayrilik/)

Dec 30th; Last Notice (Son Duyuru) says Erkan Tekman, he will quit on Jan 2nd.
(source: http://developer.pardus.org.tr/people/tekman/blog/?p=268)

Dec 30th; Nihan Katiopglu (community coordinator and developer) makes an announcement to calm the community.
(source: http://developer.pardus.org.tr/people/topluluk/blog/2011/12/her-yeni-yil-baska-guzel/)

Dec 31st; Erkan Tekman writes details on his blog (translation may come later if I find time)
(source: http://blog.erkantekman.org/?p=474)

I am waiting for the storm to end, which started without any warnings!

Like my English Smiley I cannot use English clearly,
And your English is so that I can very well understand what you are writing.
This as a non-native EN-language person.
.....Pardus user since 2007.
The same ^^^ is valid for me Wink

Mr. Ali Erkan Imrek is a respected Pardus contributor in the Turkish community.

He is also the writer of this blog; http://armuting.blogspot.com
which is well known because of a recent blog entry; http://armuting.blogspot.com/2011/12/sona-m-yaklasyoruz.html  (Sona mi yaklasiyoruz? = Are we approaching to the end?)

Thank you for all your support and your kind contribution to this community!
Also you are regarding the translation!

See you in 2012!

Her yeni yıl başka güzel

Here is the full translation;
We have been speaking about the future of Pardus project for over 2 months, on blogs, forums, and on social media websites. Unfortunately, since we did not make any kind of official announcement, these conversations could not go further than declaring personal thoughts.
When we started this blog together with Koray, we wanted to have a place to tell people what is going on on the project side, we still follow the same path. The ongoing reconstruction process has not ended, so studies continue.  Since reconstruction studies continue, we stopped the release of Corporate 2.1, which was due to our announced schedule.  However, sentences like “Pardus project is being ended” and alike are nothing but rumors. The project is not ending, it is converting and changing.  Together we will see what will change in this process. As long as decisions are made and they are put into practice, we will continue to write and inform you.
Happy new year.

That is good news from the "inside". This lady (Nihan Katipoglu) was one of the "community coordinators" with Koray Loker, who just recently resigned from TUBITAK (http://developer.pardus.org.tr/people/loker/blog/alnina-koyarken-veda-buseni/).

Happy new year to all!

Due to what Ozan Caglayan (a Pardus developer who is also a TUBITAK employee) says, there is a strict order to keep silent given to the Pardus staff. Due to ongoing regulations & restructuring for the last 3 months in TUBITAK, some (3 developers as far as I know) have resigned, and some (3 others) have left for other reasons.

Rumors say; the development of the corporate edition will continue, but the personal edition (2011.2 as we know it) will end! There is nobody denying or confirming this rumor among the Pardus staff.

Also another source (http://www.pardus-linux.org/forum/g%C3%BCncel/pardus-projesi-hakkinda) says, due to the information he got from different sources in TUBITAK and the manager of the department which develops the Pardus Project in TUBITAK, the project will continue from where it left in January 2012.

Many Turkish users (including me!) are wondering the future of Pardus. We have sent personal inquiries questioning the future of Pardus to TUBITAK, depending on our right to information act. Hope official answers will come soon.

Will keep you posted if I learn more details in the following days.

...~75 minutes build time...
OH MY GOD!...  Shocked

Upgrading my way is much easier, takes just a few minutes  Grin
13  General / Tips and tricks / Re: Update Firefox Automatically on: November 21, 2011, 10:42:10 AM
If you need to install the latest versions of Thunderbird or Firefox, just download the .tar.gz file from the Mozilla website.

First of all, you need them installed on your Pardus! Now open up the /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox or MozillaThunderbird as root. Delete all the files within the folder and decompress all the files within the .tar.gz you downloaded. Now run your Thunderbird or Firefox as usual, and check the version!

PS: All the patches and tiny regulations on the program are missing (like font rendering, etc.). You need to wait for the official Pardus package release for that.

PS-2: Please remember to DELETE all the files within the /usr/lib/MozillaXXX folders before you upgrade your program via PiSi, otherwise you will not be able to run your program (when the upgrade is released).

This link helped a little...
After fooling around, my card seems to be turned on - I can select the wireless tab in the network manager Tongue - however, it does not connect to my router.
Check http://tr.pardus-wiki.org/Donan%C4%B1m:Lenovo_B560#Kablosuz_a.C4.9F , maybe it can be helpful.

I also have a Lenovo B560 which has a Broadcom4313 chipset, not only it solved my problem, but also let me understood the logic.

I know some programs are "dead" so to speak. Not developing anymore and so on. That you can remove. But for Licq it's still a living project.
