61  Assistance / Hardware / Re: 3G key E1550 (E620) partially works on: January 19, 2011, 08:09:09 AM
This wiki page (http://tr.pardus-wiki.org/NASIL:KPPP_ile_GPRS_veya_3G_internet_ba%C4%9Flant%C4%B1s%C4%B1_kurmak) is about kppp and 3g modem settings, unfortunately only in Turkish. Maybe the step-by-step screenshots may lead you to solve the problem. Also the Turkish mobile provider Turkcell uses Huawei brand 3G modems, you should check "Turkcell" part of the mentioned page.

It is also a known bug that some usb devices are not recognized if the computer is started when they are plugged in. Some users from the Ozgurlukicin.com forums said if they did "lsusb", the device was recognized. Some said it did not help and they had to reboot. I believe there are bug reports in Turkish, but you are free to report.

By the way, did you try your device with Pardus 2011? Maybe the problem is already solved?
62  Assistance / News & Announcements / Clementine as default music player in Pardus 2011 ? on: January 18, 2011, 12:09:33 PM
I had to reinstall a system, used the nightly build iso of Jan 16th. After the installation, I saw that clementine was installed and amarok was missing!
Another thing is, chromium was not installed either, I had to install it from the package manager.
63  Assistance / Bugs / Re: Network Settings dialog shows no connections on: January 15, 2011, 08:05:27 AM
This was spoken on the Ozgurlukicin.com forums also.
We were told that the developers were looking for a workaround for this issue (since it is KDE based). People would like to set their DNS and other settings manually.

Another workaround would be making a setting for the same connection, giving a name of your choice to this connection, setting your DNS and other stuff manually, and choosing it manually from the list at every boot-up. I did not try but should work.
64  Assistance / Bugs / Re: Updates in Package Mgr same as installed? on: January 15, 2011, 07:55:10 AM
The very same question was asked at the Ozgurlukicin.com forums.
The answer was something like; "This is not a bug of the package manager, do not worry. These updates are due to some regulations and fine-tunings on the mentioned packages (so that they do their job better, in harmony with other parts of the system)."
65  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Package snapshots in package manager (PiSi) on: January 14, 2011, 15:53:34 PM
Here is what I have promised myself to do; translation of the registration page of Ozgurlukicin.com (http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/kullanici/kayit/)
(please see pictures "ekran1" & "ekran2" attached for translation)

Also here is what I have asked and the answer I got from another community manager (Gizem Belen) in the Ozgurlukicin forums. (please see picture "ekran3" attached)

Sorry, I assumed you were a member of ozgurlukicin.com Smiley When I clicked that link I could see what was inside, since I was logged in, my bad...

Today I read a respond to a topic in the English ozgurlukicin.com forums (http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/forum/english/).
parduser99, 12/01/2011 17:46 tarihinde:
please change the "yeni baslik"  button to english as "new subject" otherwise some people may turn back without posting any message..
it can also be applied for other languages.. if it is possible..
Now we are concentrated on Pardus 2011 related community needs.
We will do them, after the release of 2011.  Smiley

The respond was given by Ali Isingor (Pardus community manager). Hope this is the sign of good changes to come, on the international side of the website, after launching Pardus 2011.

Also I may try to translate the register page on ozgurlukicin.com (http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/kullanici/kayit/) if you'd like to register, or I may register for you. Everything is in Turkish on this page (by the way, "Kullanıcı adı" and "Parola" mean, "Username" and "Password" Smiley )

Merhaba, Bekir,
,Cok memnun oldum...
Hello David,
Nice to meet you too..
When I saw your message I thought you were a Turk (until I saw your name!)

We have lots of famous food, but you have chosen a less-famous one Smiley
Olive oiled beans is some kind of side dish/snack in Turkey. We call it "Pilaki", which is served cold (I guess you have mentioned this one, right?).

Thank you for your kind message. People are friendly and helpful here for sure. Time to time I used to visit but decided to register at last. A tiny piece of assistance/help I would give to anyone would make me happy. Hope I find time to visit often (since I work full day, and have a 5 year old son to deal with when I am home Smiley )
68  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Package snapshots in package manager (PiSi) on: January 12, 2011, 19:02:11 PM
http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/tema/ekle/paket-goruntuleri/ is the form to send snapshots (screenshots). The translation (Baslik: Title, ...) is the translation of words you see on the very same page. You have to be a member of the forum ozgurlukicin.com in order to send your screenshots.

The screenshots will be used in the package manager program (you must have recognized the ratings and details button on the package list shown on the package manager user interface).

Just to be more clear, these images will be shown here (see attached picture) on the package manager. Sorry for not being clear enough. Any other questions? Smiley
69  Assistance / News & Announcements / Package snapshots in package manager (PiSi) on: January 12, 2011, 16:23:15 PM
You can send your package snapshots (which are present in the Pardus repository and have a GUI) via a form on ozgurlukicin.com (http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/tema/ekle/paket-goruntuleri/)

Here is the translation of the form page...
Baslik: title (write the name of the content you will add)
Lisans: license (under what type of license will you share?)
Tanim: definition (you can write the definitions of the files you add here)
Surum numarasi: version no. (like 0.1)
Yoruma acik: Free to comment (you may choose whether other members can coment on your addition or not)
Paket goruntusu: package snapshot
Etiketler: labels
Onay: approval (I have the right to distribute this package snapshot)

The main rules have been given here; http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/haber/paketleri-siz-gosterin/
* All windows, fonts, appearance etc. styles should be in default settings (Dejavu font, oxygen style, etc.)
* No additional information (as user name, webpage or email address, etc.) should be seen on the snapshot. In case such information has to be given, info@pardus.org.tr as email, www.pardus.org.tr as website should be given.
* Ksnapshot should be used for taking snapshots, and capturing method should be "window under the cursor" (I am not sure this is a good translation since I do not have that program in English!)
* Small sized (preview) pictures should be 270x190 pixels (exactly) and bigger ones should not exceed 800x600 pixels
* While uploading the images to please only write the name of the package, do not add png or jpeg to the file name.
70  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Install from LIVECD environment? on: January 12, 2011, 15:10:35 PM
I would recommend installing the latest nightly build, instead of RC. Because nightly builds contain all the updates, latest packages and settings and etc.
71  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: Other DEs on: January 12, 2011, 13:59:04 PM
Hi! I am a new member of the forums, and I'm Turkish.
Due to the news from ozgurlukicin.com, there is a project going on, "COMAK, Project of the Year" (Coklu Masaüstü Kurulumu = Multiple DE Installations) http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/haber/bu-yilin-projesi-comak/. Also there are ISO files for installable minimal Pardus (without any default DE's), called "Minimal" on http://ftp.pardus.org.tr/pub/pardus/nightly/2011/minimal/x86_64/

A team of university students (under supervision of an academician) from Canakkale University have been working on this project (http://nyucel.blogspot.com/2010/10/pardus-coklu-masaustu-kurulumu-comak.html). They also published a roadmap (http://nyucel.blogspot.com/2010/12/comak-proje-takvimi.html)

I will translate the roadmap if I find time.

Thank you all for your warm welcome.
Pardus (GNU/Linux to be true) is a kind of a hobby for me. I am not a technical guy, but an amateur enthusiast.
Hope to "...make the language barrier a little smaller between Turkey <-> Rest of the world."  Grin
