Thank you, the plugin works in Pardus. Which is fine, since my main computer runs on pardus again. I just cannot stay away from this distro. Everyone here is very helpful, and it is a great project. I just hope it stays or a fork can be made.

What I mean is, how do you actually install the file, the download gives me a .tar.bz2 which I unzip and then I do not know how to actually install it to gimp.

I have recently downloaded the gimp .dds plugin from http://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/. It is a tar.bz2 file. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to install this to gimp. I need it as I do editing for people, and I need a .dds plugin, and photoshop is expensive.

I tried Kubuntu, and it loads to a black screen on my HP Pavilion G7. but sound still crackles in OpenSuse, Sabayon, and various other KDE distros

Whenever Kde loads, the sound crackles. I believe this is a KDE, phonon problem. Anyone have a fix?
