That's one of the reasons I use Chromium, it's the better choice when it comes to open source web browsers. IMO

Hi Atolboo, It's been a while since I've been on this site and I just reinstalled Pardus again and your Google Earth isn't working from your Repo... can you post a link to download the Beta again, that package worked when I installed it. (32-bit)

Thank you friend.

I saw that amazon.com have a special webcam for Ubuntu:

I guess it works fine with Pardus to. Smiley

I have this exact webcam and it works great on Pardus.

I got mine off Ebay from some seller in China for $1.99 two years ago. Shipping was .99 cents, but I had to wait a month for it to come in the mail.

I dont know where to post this, but I just reinstalled Pardus and tried to download Google Earth from the Pardus User Repo and It installs, but the Icon is a question mark and it wont start up when I try to open it. I dont know what's going on, it worked great before, I think the package became corrupt.... I tried reinstalling Pardus twice thinking it was my install, but Google Earth has failed both times.

I dont know who runs the Pardus User repository, but could someone check it out and see what the problem could be... please please please?

I wasn't trying to show any features specific to Pardus, I was just testing things out and it was more for a friend then anything else. I have a friend that wanted to see my desktop so I made that real quick, wasn't anything special.

Thanks to those who like it.

Here's a real quick one I made after installing KDE 4.6.1... It's to show one of my friends, nothing more.

9  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Sapphire/ATI Radeon 9200/9250 PCI on Pardus 2011 driver needed on: March 29, 2011, 07:30:40 AM
Well I'm new to Linux also and I've had nothing but trouble with ATi no matter what Distro I used.. I just finally gave up and switched to Nvidia and haven't had a problem ever sense. So to me, it seemed like ATi was a bit lacking when it came to Linux and the drivers... not sure if you're an ATI/AMD fan, but as for me, I'll never go back. (I just said what I said out of personal experience.)

It's about timey the recognized their short comings when it comes to Linux and their drivers, that's a step in the right direction.

corporation of good AMD dropped support for videocard is less than R600 core.
can only use the free radeon driver, and without 3D and hardware acceleration.

That's another good reason to drop ATi, they could care less about their consumers who use Linux.

I was a diehard ATi fan-boy before I found Linux, but after having so many problems with the ATi drivers, no matter what version of Linux I used, I finally decided to switch to Nvidia.

You can pick up a decent (cheap) Nvidia card and all your problems would be solved. Nvidia has great driver support on Linux, ATi not so much.

I know this sucks to hear and it doesn't solve your problems, but from my experience, if you're going to use Linux, Nvidia is the way to go.

I picked up a cheap re-certified GTX 260 for under $80 and replaced my HD 4850... I haven't had a problem ever since.
13  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: pardus 2011 and corporate 2 on: March 28, 2011, 00:05:09 AM
I tried Pardus Corp 2 and I didn't like it at all, it was clunky and hard to configure. Maybe I just like KDE 4 better than KDE 3, but I think 2011 is far superior to Corp 2.
14  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: upgrade packages on: March 28, 2011, 00:01:36 AM
Okay, I'll do a fresh install. When I first started using Linux, I had everything on one partition by default and that turned out to be a pain. Not so this time.  Grin

May the force be with you.

Let me know how it went Leo.  Smiley
15  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: My PiSi Cat is Injured! on: March 27, 2011, 11:33:03 AM
I used the devel repo to upgrade to KDE 4.6.1. I only selected the packages listed under KDE Desktop. It successfully upgraded to 4.6.1 but now when I go to start my graphical PiSI, mi PiSi cat bounces up and down for a few seconds then just vanishes. Should I have upgraded every package in devel?

When I updated I scanned for updates and selected them all, even the ones that weren't associated with the KDE desktop. The total download was over 500MB and I think some of the software in the KDE desktop rely on other applications. Everything is interconnected one with the other, it was almost like upgrading the entire Pardus OS.

My advice would to be for you to do a fresh install of Pardus, add the Devel repo and then search for updates. After the search is done, then download all the updates, non-KDE included and everything will work.

I'm impressed with KDE 4.6.1 on Pardus, it actually fixed a few things with the OS that I had trouble with, like power management troubles with the Opera web browser.

I know it sucks doing a fresh install, but after you do and you install ALL the updates, you'll be glad you did.
