gölge -- I hope you will keep posting updates and news here in the English section.  Some of us are wondering about when KDE 4.6 might be ready.

Craig was not amused

Is it possible that Craig was also posting on another forum and got himself and the subjects switched?  None of this makes any sense.

Craig -- come back!!!

Sometimes its not good to implement things to fast.

The 8 month rather than the 6 month release cycle of *buntu was supposed to fix some of this. I guess the urge to squeeze in just one more thing is hard to resist.

Texstar?
Yes.

but you could try building it yourself

That is beyond me.

openSuSE 11.4 seems to have been released with a lot of problems.  Some of the reviews are very critical.  It may take a month for them to get some of the bugs out.

I saw your email on the mailing list, but doubt that you will get an answer.

The guy over at PCLinuxOS is also conservative and he has moved to 4.6 a little while ago.

Do you thing they will just have it as an update to the current release or will they also have an updated download for new installations?

Thanks for the update.

Two years is a very long time to be inactive. One year seems more reasonable.

memberships auto-expire

I can't find any reference to it.

I am trying to figure out when to go forward with this thing.  If they are about to release an updated download in the next couple of days, it would be worth waiting for.

Looking at the dates -- http://distrowatch.com/index.php?distribution=pardus&month=all&year=all -- gives one the impression that they are close to another release.

The standard answer of "it is ready when it is ready" is true, but it is messing up any attempt at making any plans.

This was taken off another forum:

It is advisable to install just about every pulse-plugin you can find in the repository.

You should also install
pavcontrol
padevicechooser

Some of those folk, but not all, don't mind helping with another distro.

I submitted the story to Linux Today for them to list on their site.

Thanks for the reference to a very nice review.

I liked yast2.  This was on the GNOME version.

The problems I had was with adding and updating software.  Everything was very slow, and there was a lot of it to download.

Adding the extras was a real hassle.

Chema is a guy worth reading.  His reviews include both the good and the bad.  And, he seems to stay up to date with the new releases.

The 8 month release cycle was supposed to allow enough time to prevent these types of problems.  From this and other postings, it looks like they got some things they need to fix.

Have you ever used openSUSE?

there have also been some issues
Maybe they were waiting for KDE 4.6.1, but it is out now.

Will they be putting out a brand new up to the minute download with all the current updates included for all software?
