And I wonder why it's never any sound problems in Gnome in any Ubuntu version I have tryed in this PC so far? They must have better hardvare detection in some way then KDE 4 in general.
If you take any software package like ABC x.y.z, and you see y or z is a double digit number, then you know they have been making it a stable, mature product.  GNOME 2 was like this.  KDE 4 has had problems since day one and for some reason some of the bugs appear and disappear from time to time.

If you are getting tired of fighting this, go where things work you.

I recently wanted to try a dock.  After looking around a little, I picked one and installed it.  It fought me at every turn.  I got rid of it and was going to quit, but tried another one out of frustration.  It worked right away and without a fight.  It was night and day.  Both were highly rated.  I can't explain it.

But I don't see any difference compared to version 4.
I wonder why they not just called it Firefox 4.1 or someting like that?

I personaly dont think it's over with Ubuntu.
Many have started to look at other distros and will like what they find.  They probably won't be coming back any time soon.  All this seems like the Coca Cola change over several years ago.   Grin If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Grin

See #17 at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1761094&page=2 for another guy who had problems, too.

A ban has been issued on your IP address.
^ This happened to a another guy on a different forum this week and he was not happy about it.

But at some forum/places they are very sensitive for any form of criticism.
^ All too true.

All I have done is to point out a problem in the bug report.
Grin No good deed will go unpunished!  Grin

I remember one reviewer pointing out the night and day reaction to his criticism of two different distros with links to each reaction.  One recognized the problem was true and wrote about what they could do to fix it.  The other took it like a personal attack on their manhood.  It was very enlightening.

AbiWord and Gnumeric are great programs, but lack the heavy features in OOo / LO.
A lot of us don't need those "heavy features" most of the time.

Its not easy.
That's for sure.  Unfortunately, the best way to learn about HW and/or SW is to bring it home and live with it for a while.
