46  General / Wish list / Useful Graphical Disk Usage Tool on: April 28, 2011, 06:09:18 AM
Is there a graphical disk usage tool available?
I'm looking for something that would present a good "visual" of what files are on my hard drives and hopefully allow me to go to them.
A good example of would be "Kdirstat".
You can see what i am talking about here.
http://kdirstat.sourceforge.net/kdirstat.html
It's been around for a while.
I used its companion tool "Windirstat" on Win 7 and it still worked great.
Anyone know if this would still work on Pardus, or if there is something compatible to it?

Want to test out wordnet and artha, look here.
Thank you! Can't wait to try.
49  General / Wish list / Re: Artha Open Thesaurus/Dictionary on: April 07, 2011, 07:16:28 AM
I am running GoldenDict.
It has a few quirky behaviors that i haven't figured out yet that are  bit aggravating.
For instance, when I set it to load at start and then close to the system tray, it starts well but it won't close to the tray. I have to manually close it at each start=up.
The floating windows acts strange, sometimes coming up when I don't want it. I have to turn it off and then use a keystroke to activate. When set to run like I would like for it to run it pops-up everytime I highlight a word. Different combinations of settings seems to mess some small thing up,
I have it set to work pretty well at the moment but I still have to use a keystroke to get the best use of it. I like it pretty well over all. It's nicely polished, works smooth, closes out of the way fairly well and in general I would agree with you that it's nice.
I'm thinking Artha might do a little better though. I could be wrong though.
I'm giving it a good workout while waiting on Artha and we'll see how it goes in the end.
50  Assistance / Software / Jarte 4.3 running well in WINE on 2011 on: April 04, 2011, 06:23:39 AM
For those who have a love for Jarte 4.3, a very nice Notepad replacement for Windoze, I thought I'd let you know it runs well with WINE on Pardus 2011.
I had to add three files and change a couple of settings on them but it works great now.
I love this little program and wanted to keep using it until I decide what to replace it with.
For program builders, this is the way a program should work.
Check it out. Run it in "Classic mode" and set the "clickless menu" mouse over buttons to automatic and take a close look at it. Set it to auto-save every minute.
I will really miss Jarte in my transistion to Linux!

51  General / Wish list / Re: Bible Software Request on: April 04, 2011, 06:07:39 AM
Hopefully, I've properly requested "Xiphos" for packaging, Bug #17650.
As I posted earlier, I did get eSword to run in WINE and it seems to be doing well.
52  General / Wish list / Re: Artha Open Thesaurus/Dictionary on: April 04, 2011, 06:04:53 AM
Don't know if I'm doing it right or not but I hope to have properly requested Artha in Bug #17649.
We'll see how it goes.
Stardict just doesn't seem to be as user friendly as I would like.
I've got to figure out how to get it all set up again with the dictionaries I want to use and I need to figure out how to get rid of all the Chinese writing that shows in the definitions.
I've done this before on Windows but it gets old.
"WordNet" worked well without going through so many setup pains.
I'm hoping Artha does as well.
53  General / Wish list / Artha Open Thesaurus/Dictionary on: April 04, 2011, 03:03:43 AM
I know about Stardict and Qstardict but has anyone been able to install "Artha" into Pardus yet?

I would love to hear some opinions on the different dictionaries.
I enjoyed "WordNet" very much on Windoze. "Lingoes" didn't work nearly as well but was ok. I use it in Firefox.
"Stardict" on Windoze was challenging at times and I'm not looking forward to it but I will probably try it out  since it's in the repository already.
But from all the reviews I have read online, it seems that "Artha" is really running smooth in Linux and has what I am looking for. Artha also takes advantage of the WordNet database.
54  General / General topics / Re: Writer's Software Install help Request on: April 03, 2011, 01:15:13 AM
SW, I tried following the steps above but I'm missing something.
Everything appeared to go well. yWriter begins to load in WINE and then just disappears.
This is a copy/paste of the steps I took.

55  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Sapphire/ATI Radeon 9200/9250 PCI on Pardus 2011 driver needed on: March 31, 2011, 02:07:36 AM
 Thanks for all the replies.
Needing to spend more of my time learning Pardus rather than wrestling with ATI I found a new Asus EN8400GS real cheap and installed it.
It runs just great for what I do! (I'm not a gamer)
I will be using the old ATI in another machine so I still hope to find a way to make it run satisfactorily.
Also, while trying to find a different video card I ran across my old ATI HDTV Wonder card and just for kicks thought I'd check it out with the new Asus card in my machine and it runs great on Windows 7 using just the native drivers. T.V. now! But on the wrong O/S.  Angry
I haven't been able to run it on the Pardus yet but I have other more important things to tend to for now. I really like Pardus and I hope to see it eventually run anything that Window will run so I'll be re-visiting this later.
UNBELIEVABLE difference on how well Pardus runs with the 8400 card! As far as I can tell it seems that everything is working as it should using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers.
56  General / Wish list / Re: Ushahidi Interactive Mapping Program Request on: March 30, 2011, 07:49:40 AM
Thank you JohnA for your helpful response.
I am new to Linux and Pardus and I am totally lost with this stuff at this point.
I will try to learn the proper process for submitting program requests.
Being so pitifully helpless makes me really appreciate the work you guys put into all of this.

Atolboo, I was like you at first and this program didn't make any sense at all. I was originally hoping to find a prog that I could use for plotting locations and events on a world map. But this is so much more than that! I am just learning the many uses for this and I believe it could turn out to be one of the most important programs I've ever found. Basically it is a very fast method for anyone (even different dialects) to use most any communication method to share critical information in a speedy, relevant, and useful manner. Some of the videos at the home site help to show its many real life uses. This could turn out to be in the league of Facebook IMHO.
Thanks for taking a look at it.
57  General / Wish list / Bible Software Request on: March 29, 2011, 07:09:49 AM
A Pardus package for this is much needed by many.
"Xiphos" Homepage. http://xiphos.org/

Workable instructions for running "theWord" in Wine on Pardus would be much appreciated.
This is the version that I use and it has all my notes, etc.. I would love to just transfer them.
This has been run by others in different Linux systems but it just disappears on me after the splash screen runs. Please help!

For anyone searching for Bible software, I was able to get eSword to run in Wine on Pardus 2011.
eSword is an excellent and FREE Bible study program that equals or exceeds programs costing hundreds of dollars.
I had to copy a .dll file from Win system32 to wine system32 folder if I remember correctly before it would run right. (mfc42.dll) Below is my method of doing that.

Install "Wine" from Pardus package manager.

Then install "Winetricks" from the "non-official" repository in package manager,
 http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=3478.msg18496#msg18496
In Winetricks choose "install a windows DLL or component"/OK.
Install the "vcrun6 - Visual C++ 6 sp4 libraries (this will download and install the needed mfc42.dll file)

Install eSword.
"eSword" homepage. http://www.e-sword.net/
run eSword from the Wine programs menu.

Also, to make the mouse-over pop-up work on the Strong's numbers in versions that use them I had to install a copy of msls31.dll to the eSword program folder. Winetricks has this but it did not download for me using Winetricks.
I got a copy of this .dll file online at http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/M/msls31.dll/3.10.349.0/download.html

Many thanks!
