I'm currently running two machines with Pardus 2011:
A Lenovo 3000 n200 -0769, and
A Dell Mini 10V, fully upgraded.
Both of these have pretty much the default install on them, other than my visual preferences and a few bits and pieces of software I've downloaded.
I'm trying to connect both of these machines to a machine running Windows XP. They both can connect ok, browse fine, and transfer stuff back and forth with no issue. The problem is transfer speeds - The Lenovo machine gets about 1.6Mb/s transfer, which is what I expect out of the light server I run. The Dell only gets about 16kb/s with random bursts of speed to 20-30kb. Internet transfers are no problem, so I think the issue is something in the config.
I see plenty of people having similar issues on other distros, and I have experienced it myself on a Ubuntu install. None of the suggested items have improved speeds on this one machine. It's consistent - the Lenovo is fast, the Dell is slow.
Both have the same type Broadcom wireless card, and I have not messed with the smb configuration files other than to verify that they are identical (save the names and workgroups) - any insight as to why this is happening would be appreciated.
(edited because the previous post made little sense. Don't post tired.)
