46  Assistance / Hardware / Re: Recognising A Windows Hard Drive on: January 04, 2012, 14:28:52 PM
'pisi lr' and 'pisi info disk-manager' mentioned that updates are needed. Makes sense after a new install.

Ran updates and all is now well. Windows drive recognised and data transferred.

Thanks for that.

The official link: http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2011/stable/i686/pisi-index.xml.xz gives:

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2011/stable/i686/pisi-index.xml.xz
Line Number 1, Column 1:

The one that does work: PardusLife http://parduslife-repo.no-ip.org/p2011/i686/pisi-index.xml.xz

Requires it to be opened. I don't know how to do this.
48  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Increasing Screen Resolution on: January 04, 2012, 11:53:43 AM
The highest resolution I can get is 1024 x 768. I need 1280 x 1024 .

How can I 'add' more resolutions to choose from?

This is the same problem I had with Ubuntu and the only way to resolve was to edit a configuration file. Not easy!

I use "Disk-Manager " to mount a variety of differing partitions, at one time or another , ntfs , fat32 , ext4 , lvm. You can get it throught the Pardus package manager.

When I try to install DiskManager, I get: "Repo item disk-manager not found"

This is a brand new install.

Got a once-bootable Windows Vista hard drive containing tons of data that I need to connect to a Pardus machine. Haven't tried anything yet but is there a procedure I need to go through to see a Windows drive from within Pardus? Any Pardus applications to do this?

Thanks for all the help.

I've marked this one as solved. I'll continue to use my old Vista laptop for this kind of stuff, for now!

How do I get into root mode? Is that the same as admin user? As the original installer, shouldn't I already be in root mode?
