Two sites that get into these sorts of things ( mostly "Do It Yourself" or DIY ) are , Make : http://blog.makezine.com/and HACKADAY : http://hackaday.com/Warning , these people are a little crazy ALL the time..............:-)

"Thanks - I did that James. Should it then have appeared in the boot menu? It didn't do so. I tried i in Konsole but got "command not found" And what does it do anyway?"
I'm in the middle of re-doing my system Maurice. So when I booted , the boot screen offered a "other option" ( yes I tried this ) if the linux memtest86 is already installed. You should be able to run it then ( I say "should ", because I never do anything straight forward so things may differ "in detail")

I use mostly one firefox plugin , because it's so convenient , and it's called "videodownload" it captures flash videos, and will convert to mp3 on the fly if you have the proper codecs. The other , ( not used as much ) is acetoneiso. It will download videos off from youtube and metcafe video sites, it also extracts audio from the flash as well. There ARE others , but these are my favorites.
