91  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Domain name Pardusworld.com is available for you on: June 07, 2012, 21:28:47 PM
@kobzeci,

Can you tell a little more why this international forum did not work?
I also have read something on pardususer.de about this.

What is the history that this international never is build up?

Sorry for the late reply.

Well the answer is clear and simple: The project administration doesn't have that vision. We have asked many times for an international portal. But they did not cared it much...

Do you remember the old Pardus official site? It was a disaster for a GNU/Linux distro which has professional  employees. We argued about 3 years to upgrade this site. However only thing we had more argues, no work at all... That was nonsense...

Finally as contributors, we take over the main Turkish community site ozgurlukicin.com(actually there was nobody left to administrate the site, the new 2 community managers from the project promised to run the site but at the end f the second month they left to the site to its own destiny). After handling the Turkish site, we havee started to talk about this, got the domain name... But then things go worse...

Summarily, this should be the first step of Pardus project, however it never had such priority.

Maybe community could became together, but this site Worldforum has an access restriction from the Turkey's network provider TTNET due to some ip conflicts with some other banned sites...

I hope things go well and we can come together in an intenational forum. But the future is really uncertain at the moment.

Everything is up to the community of Pardus.

and welcome Kobzecki
( and MUCH better late than never )
do these ip blocks cover I.R.C. ?

To maintain this domain as such?or to modify into something else?

and perhaps Zeki would consider helping if he is not doing this all by himself?

Thank you sir, can not argue with results.

EDIT: Having played with the servers, I find both of them terribly slow ,high latancey , at least to North America ,are there a closer / better connected mirror?

Hi Lisa,
wikipedia suggests that the 206 is a server side problem , you (or someone else) may be better off checking with the servers admin to verify the file length with its checksumming.

The announcement was made in  facebook Pisi çiftliği ( as "testing ") , Richard..At this point , I wouldn't use on a production machine.

Other Mandriva derivatives are "HUMANity "  as well as "Unity ".

I would check to see how new the Pardus kernel and Kde are, Users may very well find that its still  "Beta "

wired internet----->[eth0{laptop1}wifi]---->laptop2
I want to setup laptop1 so that i can share internet connection using wifi with laptop 2

Hi Kranthi
short answer , there is no short answer

If no one else comes up with  ( working ) answers , I suggest you read this : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-networking-3/how-can-i-turn-my-linux-laptop-into-a-wifi-hotspot-855887/  .
I'm not copping out, some of this is gonna depend on what you have for wifi hardware.
From personal experience I would suggest a router ,
or a bottle of asprin

"et les sots ne diffèrent"

Has anyone in their travels found something suitable for enlightenment 17  ( Bhodi or other Ubuntu 's are not acceptable ) ?
Otherwise I need to find a good base and install it myself.

102  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Installing CanonMX410 on: April 23, 2012, 19:23:06 PM
My ip3000 print head no longer works with colours, even after cleaning printer ports, so we got a new printer.   Roll Eyes  Do I dare say it is a Canon MX410?  Yep, that is what we ended up with.  Anyway, it's another multifunctional printer/scanner/fax like the one in this thread.  I was wondering if you were able to get the scanner to work?  I tried installing the canon linux drivers (driver for the printer and for the scanner) for this unit, but didn't have success.
There is a cups printer driver available in Pardus for the mx410 when I use the 'add printer' and test page works, but when I run skanlite it says no devices found.  Installed xsane and the same output. If one doesn't mind paying for software, there is an easy solution: [url:http://www.hamrick.com]Vuescan  .

I read somewhere that one can scan using GIMP.  Does anyone know about this?
Thanks, Lisa Marie

Never got the scanner to work without windows , so I bought a fleamarket laser printer ( $5.00 Can )
As I remember from the old days , scanners are variations of printers, so if the drivers are optimized for printing ,then you're in trouble.

At one time Gimp was the more complete as far as drivers was concerned, ( this was when there was only Xsane for the appilcation  ) , I don't know about it these days.

Short of buying a separate (single function ) scanner , I would suggest using windows to scan with and then retrieve the resulting files with linux from the windows filesystem.

Even HP ( a major proponent of linux )  tends to be lackadaisical about providing  FULL compliance for multifuntion printers
103  Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: Iso files onto USB on: April 06, 2012, 09:24:54 AM
I've got IsoWriter installed but it doesn't seem to work with non-Pardus releases of Linux. Are there any iso-to-usb creation tools I can install? I've got a release of Ubuntu I want to install on a friend's pc.

     UNetbootin

When I click 'OK', I get:

No USB flash drives were found. If you have already inserted a USB drive, try reformatting it as FAT32.

The drive is plugged in. I tried to install the Ubuntu iso using isoWrite so it probably needs formatting but I have no idea how to do this and Pardus doesn't seem to have any utilities for this. YouTube vids on formatting usb devices aren't exactly useful, either!

Sometimes the hardware (for whatever reason) won't detect automatically a usb stick.
So (as I do when this happens ) unplug the stick, wait a second , plug it back in.
the computer should then recognize the device.

General reading (youtube videos are useless imho ) :http://en.pardus-wiki.org/How_to_make_your_USB-stick/hard_disk_with_vfat/ntfs/ext*/jfs/xfs/reiserfs_partition_writable

Install "Gparted ", then read this : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/17001/how-to-format-a-usb-drive-in-ubuntu-using-gparted/         .

Be carefull  ( and yes , I speak from experience )

105  Assistance / Software / Re: Moonlight Issues on: April 04, 2012, 01:44:05 AM
Any ideas on how to get it working?

I have  friend in Texas , lives 400 miles south of the devastation  , and who sent me the link to the same tv station.
Had the same problem , so I downloaded it ( the video clipping ) using one of the video downloaders plugins for firefox
Played  as well as could be expected using xine ( others may well work ,vlc for example ).

On reading this , installed moonligh/silverlight and went to the site to view the video ( they're using a new one now btw ).
Same problem, same solution.

I conclude that it's a artifact of the station, there was a mention that the linux xpi may not be conversant with current moonlight implementations on some websites

Edit: Still playing with this , I shut down firefox (again)  and retraced my path using your linkage again,
THIS time microsoft asked if I wanted to download the required codecs to view the program. Not ever having the need to use THEIR codecs before ( and I watch a fair amount of video ) I said yes, upon which the download proceeded , to eventually show a demo video clip , and a blurb to join their (SkyTv ) subscription online tv services ( not allowing me to view anything else ).

It would seem that it does work.
