Assistance / Software / gtk apps in kde4
|
on: March 10, 2009, 19:36:49 PM

|
Hello, I just installed kde4 to see what it is like. I normally run xfce.
However I cannot get gtk applications to take on the kde4 theme? They continue to use the kde3 theme.
How can I change this?
Thanks

Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: X Server randomly won't start with Intel 945GM

Indeed it is. Cpufreq screws things up for me.
Adding Option "FramebufferCompression" "false" to device section of xorg.conf fixes things;
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
look for [device]
add the line to the bottom of the section.
Press ctrl x and enter y followed by enter.
Now reboot and you should be ok.

Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Can't anymore into my Pardus due to KDEproblem

Before you do anything else, boot from a live cd and backup all of your home directory including all hidden files, along with /etc/
I reccomend this as a precaution if something should go very wrong.
Assuming you have the media to backup your /home and /etc/ I would reccomend a complete reinstallation to 2008. Then restore everything backed up.
I myself can never be bothered with trying to fix things like this situation. It is simply easier for me to back everything up from live cd to usb drive and then reinstall.
Am I correct in assuming that Pardus never really starts? Does X fail to load? Are you given a login prompt? Or does the boot simply hang with error messages?
Tuxedup.

OpenOffice 3 will come in time. Perhaps the devs have been encountering problems with some parts of OpenOffice that the majority of users would be unaware of.
Just to note, the latest Ubuntudoes not ship OpenOffice 3.0, so we are not the only ones.

haha it takes a lot and I mean a lot of guess work. You have to sit and count how many times you press tab before you land on next.
It was easu with 2007 because each screen had the same number of button, but with 2008 each screen has a different number. As a result I can install, but I cannot use my own custom partioning.
Apart form these problems Pardus runs great

Mhmrcs: Highly unlikely given Pardus already has strong financial support from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. I wish I was able to buy Pardus merchandise. Stickers, stuffed toys. I want one of the Pardus t-shirts on http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/dukkan/. But given I cannot read Turkish this might be a problem plus the postage costs to UK.

Im from the UK and use Linux. I started using Linux in 2004. I went cold Turkey and removed my Windows hard drive and installed a new one for Linux. This way I was forced to use Linux and had no option so I could not give in and use Windows haha.
