257  Assistance / News & Announcements / Pardus ... back to the future? on: May 09, 2012, 13:56:26 PM
Hey everyone,

The last couple of weeks i look around in Linux land. Tried so many distros and even did a step back to Windows and OSX. But the truth is ..... is miss Pardus.

So how is it with Pardus? The workshops are over, and what is the news?
The list of Aaron, pardususer.de or spanish and russian friends.

Is there some way or signal that there will be new Pardus? I wish i could create a Pardus disto, but i dunno where and how to start.

So what is the status of Pardus?

Where is everybody?

I do not know what i must think about this interview. The answers not really match
with the reality. The project is on full speed and then end of life Pardus 2011, does
not really match, does it? Is this just political talk?

One reaction on Facebook from says:
Quote
It look like a political talk. At the other hand according to me, Pardus is bigger than its producer
know. They created a monster and not easy to kill easily.

Also one Pardus user/ Junior developer Kaan Akşit started a Pardus fork:
Quote
[en] Next month I am planning to build a new Pardus based linux distribution called "Ahal teke". If you
are interested please get in touch with me directly...

The fork can you find here:
https://github.com/kunguz/Ahal-teke

My reaction on this:

But now we already have 2 forks (yours and Ozan's), and maybe even more .. and i cannot
see which way is the best. And you start an other distro .. why not continue Pardus? Right now there
is to much noise on the line.

Why is there not just a new Pardus 2012.0  :'(

Some interview video:
http://www.melihbayramdede.com/tubitak-bilgem-baskan-vekili-dr-hasan-palaz-pardus-tam-gaz-devam-edecek.htm

On twitter people say:
Vice President of TUBITAK: Pardus, continues at full speed.

But how does he explain all the developers that are gone? Need more answers ..

They are now translate the interview, see:

Hey Zeki,

Thanks for this information, and maybe this is a good platform to communicate about the fork, future, etc with each other.
I already created an account.

There are SL 64 bit party viewers, look here:

http://wiki.kokuaviewer.org/wiki/Downloads

And there viewers are based on java, so you can also try the x86 viewers.
Most of the time you only can have some media (video) problems.

Maybe we should use Google+, or something like that .. also got instant
messaging, hangouts, etc ..
If this forum is outdated, then we need to find a new place ..
268  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Pardus Fork on: January 31, 2012, 18:40:04 PM
Ok thx Aaron,

That is a good start ...
I twitter from today the page around, and hope to reach more people.

And i think it is also good to join the power of the community. So the Turkish,
German, French and Spanish forum members also should join the worldforum
(if they not did already  Smiley ).

In this forum we can talk with each other, and make plans, etc. Maybe we also should
start with a weekly IRC meeting. Do someone around here has IRC experiance?
Meetingbots, etc?

Hi Aaron,

How is it going with the list? Already lot of reactions?
And did Ozan answer you already?
I think that Kaan Aksit is also a Pardus developer, did he allready give his opinion?
270  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Pardus Fork on: January 31, 2012, 09:30:09 AM
I have no more interest to follow Pardus and I don´t want to waist one more minute.
Good luck for Your fork - I wish You all the best. May the force will be with You.

Bye

Hey SW ... also see you bugticket ('please delete my account'), and i am sorry
to hear that you not want to wait a little while. But i also can understand your
choice. And i think this is what the guys/girls that rule TUBITAK want, that all the
users walk away and there is not much left at the end of march.

I still stay at Pardus, and i hope that there will be a fork. But for a fork we need
developers. And after that? I dunno, i use a Macbook Pro and Pardus is the only
distro it almost run out of the box. And pisi packaging is so much beter then RPM,
DEB, or other variants.

Anyone knows what did happend with the Comak. Did they not have developers?
And why did they also stop like that? They already made some kind of Pardus Gnome
and XFCE fork.
