That is not good news from you John A, why leaving already?

And using Windows 7 ... sorry, but that is never a good choice.

Pardus and Linux is more then just OS, if you think about how it all
works then it is more then just develop an OS.

What is mean with that is a way of living and working that is different
then the old economy we have know.

People like to help each other and that is also the way Linux is created.

About distros: I know active distros with 3-4-5 developers.
And I know one of them with unique package-system (like Pardus) and
it has MORE packages.
So, the only problem is a developers of unique soft, like PiSi.

With the pardususer.de repo i got more then 5000 packages ..
And i got all the software i need, so the question is again what software is missing?

20 times the same software that do the same thing that can be a choice, so then u can
get more then 20000 packages. And the active distros you named here are the based
on Debian, Arch, Fedora? That also makes Pardus special, it is based on itself  Wink

Hey mannen,

Ik krijg het volgende terug van acer_wmi...

Code:
echo 'blacklist acer_wmi' >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
bash: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf: Permission denied

Daarnaast, als ik sudo modprobe ath5k invul, krijg ik het volgende...

Code:
sudo modprobe ath5k
FATAL: Error inserting ath5k (/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/updates/drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath5k/ath5k.ko): Cannot allocate memory

@ John A ... good question.

But does anybody know how many developers working on the Pardus project?
How many at TUBITAK?

If the pardus project stop ...  are they enough people to set up a fork?

Already one Smiley

The packages are good news ...

But again a developer leave the building, and that is not good news .. or is it?

The wish list is for ... wishes  Grin

So ... are there still wishes?

Yeah sure all the reviews are about Pardus 2011.x, but Corporate is not that different.
Underground it is allmost the same as Pardus 2011.x, only they choos KDE 3.x because
KDE 4.x was not stable enough that days.

Maybe they choose they way Red Hat did before, so the Pardus 2011 line will be like Fedora,
community based, and the corporate like Red Hat.

We all have to wait, only i hope they just give some news every week.

Of course it is alive.Question is will Pardus 2011 become 2012 or will just Corporate continue development.See this.

If the new Corporate will use KDE 4 (or maybe Gnome) or maybe two versions (desktop and server), then its ok with me

If you use the pardsuser.de repo you get almost all the software you want.
And they did not use this in the review, even on Ubuntu or Mint or what else you
need users repos to get sometimes software you like to use.

Owiknowi has not had any more to do with Pardus than you do.
I wish you guys would chill a bit.........

Oh, i am really chill .. but also very curious Wink
But the only thing is, and that also help people, .... give information.
So yesterday there was some news form the official front .. and that helps a little.

I love Pardus, tried so many distros, and believe me ... Pardus is one of the best, if not the best (that works out of the box without extra repos, etc)
Every day i put a lot of energy in Pardus ... building packages, try to give information, etc ..
But if in about 2 or 3 months the news is .. we only continue with the corporate edition or we stop ... how do you think the community feel?

And are the signals good?
- They drop so many developers (and they are your pardus brains, and you never drop your brains, or do you?).
- In the official mailinglist we see spam.
- Only one official message with not much more news then we already know.

Believe me .. i also work for a government ... so there are already plans about the future of Pardus.
And they only simple thing they have to do is share the plans, and i think there are 4 options:

1) Pardus and Coporate Pardus
2) Only Pardus
3) Only Coporate Pardus
4) Nothing anymore

Inform your community every day, that is all we ask for.

owiknowi .. it sounds that you know a lot more ..
if so .. please tell .. and not leave us in some kind of mistery.

the former governmental it developer? did you belong to the
pardus team?

298  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Support the Pardus developers on: January 18, 2012, 18:23:41 PM
How?!

We can promote and translate and create packages.
And we are still waiting for images  Tongue
And, later, we can create a link for donations, of course.

I like to create packages, but what are the users looking for?
I read so often that the Pardus repos are not full enough, but with the pardususer.de and the
others i gto all the packages i need.

So can we create a list of packages? Then we can start building.

If i read this article then i really got the feeling that the pardus project not will survive  Sad

Also the Fatih project is named here (http://www.pardusworld.com/project-fatih-and-pardus) so
that also not look good for Pardus.

Why do that politics never get where it really goes about?

Update:
Good news ... Pardus is still alive and kicking
