1  Assistance / Bugs / Re: Text in Package Manager on: April 12, 2008, 21:04:18 PM
Hi trixon,

I am NOT using the english version, however when the option "show new packages" is activated, this indeed show only the new, available but not yet installed packages Wink. this not the complete list, because it does NOT include the installed packages (by pisi at least) !!

just for your info...

ok, the text labels are a different matter.

greetings
2  Assistance / Software / alternative webserver not in service-manager list on: April 12, 2008, 19:50:15 PM
Hi,

I am experimenting with webdevelopment, and compatible or portable environments which should be (small and..) compatible for several platforms.
When installing Hiawatha Webserver from its sources (http://hiawatha.leisink.org/) it works fine when starting and killing from command line.

However it would be nice to have it in the list of available services in the service-manager of tasma.
Any idea of how i can include it here ?
Probably it might be faster asking here, instead of trying to track it down in the different special tools of Pardus.

thank You,

Klemens
3  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Locale problem on: October 31, 2007, 19:40:45 PM
I think it is a font problem.

You can install additional fonts for  chinese and japanese writing and the display in the original language should be ok.
There are some choices in Pisi for additional fonts, i don't remember now which one of them did the job for me.

6  Assistance / Laptop / sound on acer aspire 3102 on: April 01, 2007, 19:33:44 PM
Hi,
I am running Pardus 2007.1 on acer Aspire 3102 WLMi,
everything is really cool. Sound plays well too.

But some days ago i wanted to do some microphone-recording, however in KMix there exists no tab for input or advanced controls.
I have on my other partition still Pardus 2007 but show the same problem, same with Pardus 2007.1 calisan CD.

However some other live distros seem to have the same problem here - and Pardus calisan 2007.1 shows everything ok on other boxes.
7  Assistance / Software / can i burn a dvd iso and later add stuff with k3b ? on: March 06, 2007, 01:23:15 AM
Hi Bari16,

thanks,
I will give it a look (although my idea was not to modify the "original" iso), it might be an acceptable option...
8  Assistance / Installing Pardus / manual partitioning suggestions on: March 06, 2007, 01:08:33 AM
This might be an add-on for ideas when improving the partitioner tool during installation:

My latest partition-scenario for a pardus installation was:
1 - fat hidden recovery partition (notebook)
2 - fat 32 existing system
3 - swap
4 - ext3 Pardus

i ended up repartitioning again - because i didn't like the result (well, i didn't pay enough attention..). and because:
I had choosen my "last" partition NOT to fill up the remaining space, justa a part, letting space to grow or to add another partition.
However, this ext3 partition was joyfully created, as primary partition, so any other space was LOST / inaccessible !! Because after having created 4 primary partitions (disk IDE) there is nothing left to create.

Maybe the installer could have alerted me that i am "losing" space with my selection, and/or propose to create the last partition inside an extended partition ??

Ok, this time it gave me a chance to learn (remember) some stuff again... Wink
9  Assistance / Software / How to instal nvu-html editor 1.0-pc- on: March 06, 2007, 00:33:29 AM

10  Assistance / Software / can i burn a dvd iso and later add stuff with k3b ? on: March 06, 2007, 00:27:27 AM
I have a question, it is a feature i am looking for and cannot find it so far.

What i know that works:
I can burn with k3b a CD from a (small) .ISO file (example some recovery boot disk). I can burn the iso with the option "start multisession", so i can later add more files normally, and fill the rest of the space.

I wan to do the same with DVD (I have a bootable .ISO file which doesn't fit into a CD), however in DVD mode i cannot find the option for "start multisession". Is there a workaround ??
Would be nice if it works..

thanks.
11  General / Tips and tricks / Kill a program on: March 06, 2007, 00:16:27 AM
You could also open a terminal window (or Yakuake) and write: xkill
The mouse pointer converts to a skull and you can click on he window You want to kill.
12  Assistance / Bugs / Xorg dead after update with PiSi on: March 06, 2007, 00:07:07 AM
Hi,

maybe i was trying too many things at a time, but one day i kept connected to internet and downloaded several choices of packages, each "collection" of no more than 20 MB, more or less.

In one of these i choose components referring to Xorg. all so fine.
Later i shut down the computer, and wanted to start up again, but instead of showing the login screen my computer remained black.

in the log screens (ALT+F1, F2, /var/logs/messages) + the help of some live CDs i found that xorg was looking for some inexistent components. After some tries i copied from the new Kurumin 7.0 live CD its xorg folder to /var/lib/xorg/modules/ Wink worked fine with this one !!

When starting up again i checked in Pisi Again, and updated the Xorg Main package, which was showing up as "possible update".

well, my critics / suggestion (i don't know how, but..): maybe for some critical packages there should be a stricter check for requirements/dependencies in Pisi. In my case probably: FIRST install Xorg, and LATER its addons.

/** as well as NOT neccesarily update the kernel if i want to install some stuff which is not security or hardware related.. **/

ok, so far.
But i keep trying Pardus, and also will the next version  Cheesy
13  International Pardus Users / German / Uhrzeit Problem on: March 05, 2007, 23:46:15 PM
Hallo IstanbLue,
