31  General / As seen on the internet / Microsoft to patch 17-year-old computer bug on: February 06, 2010, 13:16:01 PM
A 17-year-old bug in Windows will be patched by Microsoft in its latest security update. The February update for Windows will close the loophole that dates from the time of the DOS operating system. First appearing in Windows NT 3.1, the vulnerability has been carried over into almost every version of Windows that has appeared since. The monthly security update will also tackle a further 25 holes in Windows, five of which are rated as "critical".

And for those of you who didn't know about microsoft has been developing ways to infect computers with forced updates?

They would use worm methods to update computers against the user's will. That means that if they want to, they can make your old computer slower and slower until it won't work at all. Also, they would add more digital rights management to your computer, and eventually, erase all your mp3's.

Ididn't know that. But anyway, i have to say that before my Pisi problem started i did a couples of updates in the console and packetmanager but without sudo pisi up -c system.base and everythink worked fine.
That's very well possible.
Have a look in Comment #1 of the report. And in all other (90) comments.
And in your case I have the impression that only this >3e. Pisi-pakket ophalen met:< will solve the problem.

I tryed to install Pardus 2009 on a PC today. But the Pisi/updating after installing not working.
Did you apply >Before doing any update< after the installation Huh?

Quote
Because of a bug in Pardus 2009 it is necessary to make the first update after a new installation in a Konsole.  Open System > Konsole Terminal and enter the following command: sudo pisi up -c system.base

I tryed to installou to  Pardus 2009 on a PC today. But the Pisi/updating after installing not working.

So I will wait to version 2009.1 are released. I hope this problem are solved then.
But I am little worried. I think the time between the beta,  RC and the real version are to short.
Is it enough time to test everyting?

It was a lot of bugs when they released version 2009, so I hope it not be the same this time. Undecided

Maybe it has to do with oure name's - Henrikh3 and Hendrikus that we have the same Pisi problem? Huh?
Do you think so? No I don't think so! Grin
But anyway we have the same problem. So let shake hands Wink

Hendrikus,
When it is convenient, can you send the
"pisi hs" attachement to the bug report showing all of your updates and package installs.

I am also curious if you try this in terminal (may be you already tried this):
Code:
package-manager
which should take a few seconds to bring up the GUI.

Also, try in terminal:
Code:
pisi info package-manager
I would also expect it to give you an error.
Regards, Lisa Marie

Hendrikus, sometimes I go off on wrong limb, so be forewarned.   Cheesy  I try to solve puzzles.

Besides sending "pisi hs" attachement to bug report, you might also include a copy of
.package-manager.log
located in your home folder (hidden file).
