Assistance / Bugs / Re: (probably) Sun Java is spamming error messages in my home folder

Guess what... It stopped! I really don't have a clue what I did, but my cpu is 'normal' now (around 10%) and my home folder isn't spammed anymore with error messages. I just hope it doesn't start all over again with a reboot, but so far so good Thx for all your replies EDIT: Oh, I remeber why it stopped, I turned java off, but a reboot was needed for the changes to take effect. I don't have the need for Java right now, but I still consider this as a serious bug. EDIT2: Well, it started again. I would appreciate it if a developer could look at this... and why can't I remove java?

Hi, I have a problem. Just installed Kde4 from the repositories and rebooted. It runs fine, but in Kde4 Java is just really spamming error messages in my home folder. They come in like 10 messages a second (really!) Here is some console output. All the commands are given in +/- 0,3 secs after eachother: sander@Klaptop ~ $ rm -f *.log sander@Klaptop ~ $ dir Afbeeldingen hs_err_pid9608.log hs_err_pid9641.log Muziek Desktop hs_err_pid9616.log hs_err_pid9649.log TeamSpeak2RC2 Documenten hs_err_pid9625.log hs_err_pid9657.log Video's Downloads hs_err_pid9633.log hs_err_pid9665.log Websites sander@Klaptop ~ $ dir Afbeeldingen hs_err_pid9633.log hs_err_pid9690.log Muziek Desktop hs_err_pid9641.log hs_err_pid9698.log TeamSpeak2RC2 Documenten hs_err_pid9649.log hs_err_pid9706.log Video's Downloads hs_err_pid9657.log hs_err_pid9714.log Websites hs_err_pid9608.log hs_err_pid9665.log hs_err_pid9722.log hs_err_pid9616.log hs_err_pid9673.log hs_err_pid9730.log hs_err_pid9625.log hs_err_pid9682.log hs_err_pid9738.log sander@Klaptop ~ $ dir Afbeeldingen hs_err_pid9665.log hs_err_pid9755.log Desktop hs_err_pid9673.log hs_err_pid9763.log Documenten hs_err_pid9682.log hs_err_pid9771.log Downloads hs_err_pid9690.log hs_err_pid9779.log hs_err_pid9608.log hs_err_pid9698.log hs_err_pid9787.log hs_err_pid9616.log hs_err_pid9706.log hs_err_pid9795.log hs_err_pid9625.log hs_err_pid9714.log Muziek hs_err_pid9633.log hs_err_pid9722.log TeamSpeak2RC2 hs_err_pid9641.log hs_err_pid9730.log Video's hs_err_pid9649.log hs_err_pid9738.log Websites hs_err_pid9657.log hs_err_pid9746.log sander@Klaptop ~ $
As you can see, they come really fast. --see post below--

Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Updates for Pardus 2007.3

Once an update in installed, itÅ› effects will last as long as the OS is up and running Well, isn't that obvious xD But I guess Andreas means that, like 2007 has kernel 1.4 (just an example) and 1.5 is released, will 1.5 be included in the 2007.3 repositories, and if yes, for how long? (1.6, 1.7 etc)

Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Game (Urban Terror) + Teamspeak

Hi there,
I use Pardus 2008, but it is impossible to get sound for both UrT and Teamspeak at the same time. When TS is started first, my headset will send/recieve sound to TS only. When UrT is started first, the headset will only get sound from Urt, not from TS (no sound is sent). The headset is not an USB one. There should be an option somewhere which enables the sound card to send/recieve sound to more than one application. Another strange thing is, I can listen to music (amaroK) and play UrT at the same time and I get sound from both.

Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Installing Pardus 2008

But I thought he didn't have a seperate /home partition, so he still has to back-up his home folder (like the wiki says). I guess it is always advisible to do a fresh install rather than an upgrade, your system will run smoother .

It is not possible to upgrade 2007 to 2008, because the system itself has changed a lot. If you install the 2008 version, all of your tweaks will be lost, but if you back-up your home directory (/home/<user>) which contains all your program settings, most of them should be saved. Just copy the contents of your back-upped folder to the new one and you should be fine. Maybe the devs have some folders they would like you to exclude because maybe some configuration files might give errors on 2008, but I'm not sure

Assistance / Bugs / Re: Pardus 2008 with mobile Intel graphics card

I just found out that it has something to do with the 'intel' driver itself. I've selected the universal vesta driver, and almost all the problems are gone. I don't have the annoying flikkering anymore. Maybe a kernel update with a better intel driver is the solution, and I want to stress that this didn't occur in the 2007 version.
