Great, thanks!
227  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / How to start services from the command line? on: March 31, 2007, 23:25:30 PM
Found the answer ;-)

This is handled by /sbin/start-stop-daemon:

pardus roverrat # start-stop-daemon -S -v --exec /usr/sbin/sshd
Starting /usr/sbin/sshd...

pardus roverrat # start-stop-daemon -v -K --exec /usr/sbin/sshd
Stopped /usr/sbin/sshd (pid 3611).

See: http://www.annodex.net/cgi-bin/man/man2html?start-stop-daemon+8
228  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Share directories via NFS on: March 31, 2007, 19:24:15 PM
Have you tried adding the option "user" to the entry in /etc/fstab?
This will allow ordinary users to mount the share. (Normally only root will be able to do this)
229  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Proxy problem? on: March 30, 2007, 17:27:18 PM
Are you by any chance behind a proxy?

I have a similar problem: pisi on the command line works when invoking the command as root (after setting the environment variable http_proxy). Package-Manager and pisi when started as an ordinary user however keep complaining about a network error:

roverrat@pardus ~ $ sudo pisi up
Password:
Updating repositories
* Updating repository: pardus-2007
Program Terminated.
Please check your network connections and try again. (Connection refused)
230  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / How to start services from the command line? on: March 30, 2007, 14:17:04 PM
Hi all,

I am very impressed with pardus. Just a quick question though:

How do I start a daemon, let's say ssh from the command line? I know you can use Tasma for this, but I'd really like to be able to do this in a console window as well.

Thanks in advance,
Alex
