Please use 'pisi help' for general help.

I had been getting that error for several days now. Didn't see anyone on the forum with the issue so I did a reinstall last night. I forgot that I had added these repos and that might have been the cause. Will watch for this now.

The nvidia driver is working flawless for me . I just installed it in PISI , selected the proper driver in TASMA, and rebooted .

Failed twice using the plain 2009 iso. Worked when I used the international iso.

Can I ask a question here? I don't see anywhere else yet.....

I'm loving everything about 2009 but I can't get the nvidia driver to work. System Settings > Display select nvidia - download what is says and reboot - didn't work.

Zorg command from the other thread didn't work, manual install procedure using downloaded driver didn't work.

Anyone got this working yet?

Has anyone else noticed that restart or shutdown doesn't work or is that just on my machine? Either from the main menu, or right clicking on the desktop, or the icon I added on the panel, trying to restart or shutdown just locks up my machine. Has been doing this for all versions of 2009 so far.
20  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: pardus 2009 alpha released on: June 06, 2009, 22:00:12 PM
Opera doesn't work in the alpha, have tried the included version and the tarball of the latest beta.

/usr/lib/opera/9.64/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

For pisi - something similar to synaptics "New in Repository" status. As it is I know of no way to determine when something new is added to the repositories other than to manually go through the entire list of available programs. Am I missing something?
22  Assistance / News & Announcements / Re: Pardus 2008.2 alpha/beta on: January 07, 2009, 21:16:29 PM
Is an up to date 2008.2 alpha the same as this or is worthwhile installing over it? (Note it's not a big deal for me to do the install, I have multiple distros to use, keep all data files on a separate partition, and it's kind of my hobby  Cheesy )
23  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Sony Walkman Nwz-s616f on: January 05, 2009, 03:58:25 AM
On my pc it still doesn't work perfecty: managing it with amarok it's ok, but if i choose to open directly the folder view of the mp3 player, it eventually disconnects. What are u experiencing?

On my install it works great. Also works fine with the 2008.2 alpha.
24  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Add items to right click on desktop menu on: January 05, 2009, 03:53:56 AM
Have a look in:
Tasma (Settings > Show Extra Modules must be marked) > Desktop > Behavior
General > Mouse Button Actions > Right button:

Thanks, never knew about that "Show Extra Modules" setting. That should be the default.

Still can't set up the right-click menu like I want, but I've looked at other kde sites and it seems to be a problem everywhere.

I'd also like to add an option to start a konsole from the right click menu, a la fedora.

I can right-click on a folder and choose "Actions" > "Open a terminal here".
Is there nothing in your /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus directory ?

Yes, I can do that, I'm just looking to get the konsole from the right-click menu.

In particular I mean the Switch User, Lock Session, and Logout user features that every other kde disto on the planet seems to have but the pardus developers seem to think users don't need.

This menu has been simplified by the pardus developpers. The absence of log out button is not a bug, it's a feature Wink

Sounds like something microsoft would say....  Cheesy

As a workaround, you can add a logout button in the taskbar.

I always do that, but like the convenience of the logout from the menu.
26  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Add items to right click on desktop menu on: January 03, 2009, 20:08:23 PM
How can I add items to the menu that pops up when you right click on an empty deskop? In particular I mean the Switch User, Lock Session, and Logout user features that every other kde disto on the planet seems to have but the pardus developers seem to think users don't need.

I'd also like to add an option to start a konsole from the right click menu, a la fedora.

Any ideas?

Not sure if it's just my hardware so I won't report it as a bug yet but I tried two installs with grub going to the / partition instead of mbr and they both crashed when installing grub.

I then did an install with no grub and hooked it up manually with my pclinuxos grub and it's working fine so far.

My hardware is one sata drive (2 vfat partitions) that pardus identifies as the drive it wants to install grub to and an ide drive where I have my pclos grub, win xp, and about 9 distros installed at the moment.

Start Pardus while the Sony is connected to the USB port.
Is the Sony then visible in System on the desktop?

No, not on my system.

I have the exact same walkman and it would be nice to get it working in pardus.

I can say that it works ootb with the Vector 6 rc1 and Mint 6. It doesn't work with pclinuxos, sabayon 4, arch, mepis 8 rc, sidux or mandriva. I think it worked with suse 11 but I've since installed another distro over that one.

It would be nice to stop having such issues with linux.
30  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Can't get resolution right after installing nvidia driver on: August 11, 2008, 02:01:00 AM
Ok, did another install from scratch (I know I don't have to, but it's just as easy for me as I'm in no rush). This time without updating anything I installed the nvidia-drivers-new through tasma and it worked with the proper resolution - 1600x1200.

Then I got out of X with a ctrl-alt-f1 and ran 'pisi up' which updated everything including the kernel and the nvidia drivers.

Now, when I try to start pardus, I get:

"API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 173.14.09, but this NVIDIA driver component has version 173.14.12. Please make sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA components have the same version."

I just saw on the Arch forum some people who use NVIDIA having problems after the latest round of updates and one proposed solution was reverting to earlier versions of both the kernel and nvidia drivers.

Does anyone have any simple or elegant ideas to fix this issue here?
