Assistance / Pardus for beginners / Re: Is this really the most popular English Pardus forum?

Shure: Pardus is able to speak English. I did not wanted to discredit the people of this Web- site and the Developers because they did hard and really famouse work. This Forum of course is English. But Pardus on Web is mostly represented in Turkish.
For me Pardus is the most userfriendly Linux- distribution. Everything works at once. Nowadays many people thinking Linux is something for spezialists, because it is sometimes hard to connect Your computer with printer, rooter etc. And this is for newbies often the backway to MSWindows. Here Pardus is different and I hope it will receive more attention.

You say it.
Pardus works with less problems than other distributions and it is very confortable. I tried a lot of other distributions like Knoppix, Ubuntu, Suse before but Pardus was most convincing.
Nevertheless Pardus is not as popular than Ubuntu. The most popular forum is in turkish wich is a nice linguage, also a lot of people speaking Turk- linguages, but English is mor popular, like Latin was in middleages.
I am german native speaking wich is a linguage is spoken by many people but to make Pardus more popular on the Web you have to speak English or You stay regionally

Hi, could it be that there was not any misstake? Last week I could not get any update connection with pisi. I just had internet connection via proxy everything worked but pisi did not. What happend? ....... The update web site " http://paketler.pardus.org.tr" was not avivible. Sometimes such things happen. Pisi always said "Proof networkconnection" .... Connection was not wrong. Some days later everything funktioned. Greatings Wolfgang

Dear Jan,
You asked about where you can find ifcfg file it resides in /sbin/. If You are looking for special files You can manage like this:
look in PISI if you have installed slocate. If not install. After that go to Your console and type sudo updatedb. Now it takes a bit time. (What happens? updatedb will generate a DB-file wich includes surchpath of all files on Your computer) After that You can start surch like this: You are looking for ifcfg so type : locate ifcfg. You also can use wildcarts: locate ifc*. The result wil be: /sbin/ifcg
Greatings
Wolfgang
P.S. Once a day it is good to update the DB-file by sudo updatedb because of the new files You add on Your computer by store.

Finally the printer works now. Installed everything then discribed by Ben and zloby.
One trick in addition:
You have to open console and send
lp /lib/firmware/sihp1018.dl to the printer. It makes noise as if it is going to print. Since that time it will print everything till it is turned off. Then you have to start procedure again.
Thanks to all for their help
