1  Assistance / Software / Re: Playing only audio not video on: April 27, 2010, 22:32:12 PM
I agree, VLC is a wonderful player for all sorts of different formats.

1. Find your pisi package manager.
2. Navigate to new packages.
3. Enter   vlc    in the search bar.
4. Select  vlc    package and install.
.
If these video files came from a windows ntf partition then they could be compressed Huh?
If thats the case, copy your files using a command console in su mode.

.
About wifi connection:
You'll need to give us better description of the problem.

Open connection manager and select   "edit connection".
You'll need to match your wireless network information from your router to Pardus connection manger.

Good luck abbiya and welcome to Pardus.

2  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: INSTALLING NVIDIA DRIVERS on: January 08, 2009, 18:25:55 PM

Method 3 - The third method requires Konsole and is a text-only installation of the NVIDIA packages:
Run: Konsole [Programs>System]
Type: "sudo pisi ur"
Type: "sudo pisi it nvidia-kernel nvidia-glx nvidia-tools"
Type: "sudo nvidia-xconfig"
Press: [Control-Alt-Backspace] /OR/ Reboot

If there are any more methods, please post a reply detailing it, and I will modify my message accordingly.
.
The third method is my prefered way. All readers should know that in this method, (w/Pardus Lynx) if you
type:"sudo pisi it nvidia-kernel nvidia-glx nvidia-tools"
then those very same packages will be installed and configured to default.
.
.
Now, if you know your Pardus operating system runs superb with the nvidia-new packages then you would
Type: "sudo pisi it nvidia-kernel-new nvidia-glx-new nvidia-tools-new"

Im gonna try and give firestarter a go sometime. After all, Atolboo recommends its with the SECRET solution.
Not that Im not satisfied with Pardus built-in firewall in Network Applet. (Brilliant)
Im totally satisfied with my LYNX's splendid capabilities.
.
I just wanted to scan my system files and some ntfs partitions with Klamav. To see what I come up with and how it works, and I have several times since the first post. Thanks for the great responses.
try "su root".
It works
Code:
danho@pardus ~ $ su
Password:
pardus danho # klamav
kbuildsycoca running...
QLayout "unnamed" added to Klamav "KlamAV ", which already has a layout

Note: Can't update Klamav from ver. 0.93.3 to 0.94.2 w/ 2007.3

How do clean up uneccessary file in Pardus. After many times trying to install server my partition got pretty big.
.
There is a way to manually clean your trash.

1. Open "File Manager" (enter root password)
2. Enter "Root Folder", go to "view" and select "Show Hidden Files"
3. Locate  ".local" and navigate to "/.local/share/Trash"
4. There should be two folders, "files" and "info"
5. Go to "Tools" and "Open Terminal"
6. Type in console;  rm -rf files
7. After deleting the folder "files" create a new folder and name it "files"

Good.
I did try installing the nvidia-drivers-new package before updating anything.
188 total packages available.
I went ahead and upgraded 1 alsa package and it 63 dependecies. No problem.
.
Then I went for 103 upgradable packages and it wouldn't accept my root password.
Then tried again only to get this error;

11  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Re: Boot/Grub on: September 01, 2008, 22:12:03 PM
, is that right ?
No Sir.
My initial problem was not being able to root the linux boot loader to (hd0,3)  Pardus Lynx in sudo grub.
I was able to get the plain menu.txt boot screen and boot all os's by rooting the linux boot loader to (hd0,2) xp32bit and by adding a new sda3 boot entry in Boot manager.

Is the bootsplash package installed ?
Yes it was installed. Good Idea.
I was ready to remove and reinstall the boot splash package and its 97 dependencies but Pisi Package Manager would'nt allow it.
.
Changing the grub boot splash screen is just a matter of replacing splash.xpm.gz in /boot/grub/

You can get the Mortal Combat grub splash and other great splashes at kde-look.org.
<a src="http://www.kde-look.org/index.php?xsortmode=new&logpage=0&xcontentmode=61&page=20">kde-look.org</a>

Thanks Phix.

I don't understand what you are trying to do with grub.
I want my "Mortal Combat" grub splash back!  Angry
(the 1 that list all operating systems)
.
In sudo grub Im able to root (hd0,2).
That how Im able to access the sda3 boot entry and my other ms os's.
sda1 windowsx64
sda2 windows32
sda3 pardus lynx

fourth partition is a swap.

My RaptorX was partitioned into 3 partitions.
sda1 WINDOWS x64
sda2 LYNX

3rd partition was a swap.
.
.
I deleted WINDOWS x64 and splitted it into 2 partitions.
Before I did this, I edited Boot Manager and added sda3.
.
I can boot into LYNX but Im missing boot splash where all operating systems are listed. Im just getting a black screen with the operating systems.
Sudo Grub can't mount selected partition.
I can root (hd0,3)
but when I run setup (hd0) I get the error:
grub> root (hd0,3)

grub> setup (hd0)

Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition

15  Assistance / Software / Re: LAMP on: June 18, 2008, 18:21:58 PM
Thanks Roverrat, htaccess is another good alternative, but I would like to setup mysql and php so that users can be able to edit and add to the website's webpages.
.
With .htaccess  you can protect files, folders, and webpages in or out the network from being viewed. A log-in prompt will appear asking for user and password info.
.
I accomplished this by creating and placing two text files (.htaccess & .htpasswd) in the folder I want to protect.
.
.htaccess file should look like this;
.AuthName "Login to the Private Area"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /var/www/localhost/the protected file/.htpasswd
Require user stonecuban
.
.
I could'nt create an encrypted .htpasswd file by running these two commands in terminal?
htpasswd -cmb .htpasswd user password
or
htpasswd -c .htpasswd user password
.
So I went to this link
http://users.abac.com/cgi-bin/pass.pl
and typed in a password and in return it gave an encrypted code of my password which I simply pasted alongside my user name followed by a colon in the .htpasswd file.
.
.htpasswd file should look like this;
.
stonecuban:klgytumkjcvf
.
Restart server or servers.
Visit your new "login required" protected webpage in or out the network.
.
But we're talking Lamp here.
.
I would like to setup mysql and php so that users can be able to edit and add to the website's webpages.
I've gotten as far as my results here.
.
pardus stonecuban # mysql -u root -p
Enter password:
