Thanks for your reply.

Re checksums on international version, I couldn't get the following to download correctly:

http://ftp://ftp.pardus.org.tr/pub/pardus/kurulan/2009/Pardus_2009_International.iso
or
http://ftp.metu.edu.tr/pardus/pub/pardus/kurulan/2009/Pardus_2009_International.iso

However, the following was correct first time:

http://ftp://ftp.pardus.org.tr/pub/pardus/kurulan/2009/Pardus_2009_International.iso.torrent

I have downloaded the international version again since the checksum problem was apparently solved. However although the checksums of the iso are now different from before, they still disagree with the expected values.

Expected:
md5sum        c678272118c3ac3e1df7e24f8d782e44
sha1sum       d4e436d45f6986c7af9857f6e2f699910a4093c8

Actual (mine anyway):
md5sum        3bcd7e3b36b20e3a646456c7035d6f92
sha1sum       57ca1130205148b3500017d734508543f7952aaa

Would be grateful for some help please.

I agree with having disk encryption at boot time - this is the reason I sadly left Pardus for Ubuntu - but very much want to return.  Sad

Also. please keep to KDE and don't get side-tracked down the Gnome road - as that is leading deeper and deeper into M/S territory with its increasing dependency on Mono/C# and Gnome's inevitable destruction or takeover.

IMHO the best thing about Gnome is the overall sharpness of its fonts, has KDE (3 or 4) caught up here yet by default or is it possible by special tweaking?

4  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: 2007.3 won't boot after install on: November 21, 2007, 19:23:00 PM
Decided to reinstall with 3rd (minimal) option.

Worked!  Smiley

Thanks for your swift response. Still the same unfortunately.

Ramdisk and kernel exist and have same path as you specified.

grub.config did not exist at all so I had to create it from scratch as well as device.map
Perhaps it is now my video settings (Advent 7008 laptop).

Puzzled as to why this should have happened in first place???
6  Assistance / Installing Pardus / 2007.3 won't boot after install on: November 20, 2007, 17:57:18 PM
2007.3 successfuly installed.
However boot sticks after displaying word 'GRUB' on its own.
Would be grateful for help.
N.B. I have various linux live CDs so I could change the GRUB menu file to whatever it should be. BTW the boot defaults were accepted during install.
