Pardus is a binary distro, but there is a contrib repo where you cam em (emerge) packages.
Pardus is super fast i dont know why many people says that python is slow...is the future in linux

You can also add the source 2007 repository and compile applications that what you need

http://svn.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2007/

I don't know why you have an error but If there's no problem in another account, use it. You can copy kde configurations from your old account. It is kept in .kde directory. Login with new user and give root privileges, copy the directory from old account
Code:
# cp -R /home/oldaccount/.kde /home/newaccount

Code:
# chown -R newaccount:users /home/newaccount/.kde

Restart X and login
213  Assistance / Software / Gnomebaker wont compile on: February 26, 2007, 17:22:06 PM
Sorry for this typo. I forgot to add the "libnotify" dependency to gnomebaker package Sad

Please build "libnotify" first for now.
Code:
pisi em libnotify -d

I have just solved this error in repository and this won't happen when the index file is re-generated

Please do not search in the playground, it is not repository and not for users! It's normal that you may not be able to find an url and build package..
215  Assistance / Software / Gnomebaker wont compile on: February 22, 2007, 21:57:19 PM
Huh, It's in the contrib repository and i haven't had a problem about compiling. How did you compile it? From contrib or source file?

Please add contrib and update it, than;
Code:
sudo pisi em gnomebaker -d

Yes, you can install xfce from contrib repository by building the packages. Please add the contrib repository;
Code:
sudo pisi ar contrib http://svn.pardus.org.tr/contrib/pisi-index.xml.bz2

Build base stuff
Code:
sudo pisi em desktop.xfce4.base -d

Build some goodies (thunar media plugin, date/time for panel, etc.)
Code:
sudo pisi em desktop.xfce4.goodies -d

Yeah, xfce is installed but we should do some configuration changes.

Build the kdmtheme application to change a login theme to see the Xfce4 option and login
Code:
sudo pisi em kdmtheme -d

Configure it by writing,
Code:
kcmshell kdmtheme

And give root privileges in the application, Please select another login theme and press OK

After it, we should move ".gtkrc-2.0" file in the home directory
Code:
mv ~/.gtkrc-2.0 ~/.gtkrc-2.0.backup

Xfce is ready! Please shutdown the session and select the Xfce from menu than login Wink

Also you may want that;

= Abiword =
Note: Now we should build the latest version of XML-SAX from my playground, it has no problems. When it has been added the 2007 repo, you will able to install it as pisi.
Code:
sudo pisi bi http://svn.pardus.org.tr/pardus/playground/eren/programming/languages/perl/XML-SAX/pspec.xml
sudo pisi it XML-SAX*.pisi

Code:
sudo pisi em abiword -d

= Gedit =
Code:
sudo pisi em gedit -d

= Xchat =
Code:
sudo pisi em xchat -d

= Gaim =
Code:
sudo pisi it gaim

= Sylpheed =
Code:
sudo pisi it sylpheed

= Geany =
Code:
sudo pisi em geany -d
