46  Assistance / Bugs / Re: Pardus hangs while booting when mount is not available on: April 19, 2008, 19:38:30 PM
You know, Pardus uses "mudur" for booting. And mudur runs "mount" application to mount all devices in /etc/fstab. I think, it's normal that Pardus can't start when unavailable device exist in /etc/fstab. But it should be fixed that "mount" should wait 5 or 7 seconds if it can't mount something. I don't think it will be fixed in 2008 because there is no bug report about that.

Could you go to bug page and file a bug under "mudur" component?

The package hasn't been updated yet. When the maintainer of the package sees updating necessary, he will do Wink

Pardus' unique tools will use PolicyKit to set privileges of users. See more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PolicyKit.
So there will be no windows-like(!) system privileges.

Here is a concept of PolicyKit. Watch the video of new user-manager;

Well, as I said before, it's not certain. We should just wait.

There is an annoying bug in INTEL graphic chips. As far as I know, new Xorg INTEL driver doesn't work as properly as previous one. I informed xorg maintainer about this situation ~1 week ago and he said he could look for it.

PS: It's a development CD, and don't use it as your main desktop distribution Smiley

Actually, we can expect it. 1 week ago, the development CD was released (ISO), about 500MB size. And it's just for developers.

Could you open a console and write "getmail", it should write something. If so, could you paste the output of it?

PS: You can open console by pressing ALT+F2 and writing "konsole"

56  Assistance / Hardware / Re: Issue with Xerox Phaser 3117 on: April 05, 2008, 15:47:39 PM
I have a Xerox-3121 and it works well with Samsung ML-1610. Could you try to re-install driver with TASMA? But be careful that  you will be prompted to select a driver version. Default will be something like "foomatic + splix", instead of selecting this, please select "foomatic + gdi".

Have you installed "kernel-source" ?
58  General / Tips and tricks / Re: PiSi Backup program by Me on: April 04, 2008, 16:25:42 PM
No, you should just learn language's rules. Importing modules, if statements, for, while loops etc. Dive into python is a good choice for beginners.

Great Smiley I'm 17. When I started using Linux (actually, beginning to use it), I was 14 and I even didn't know what the shell is for :-) Keep using Linux, and learn a programming language. Python is the best choice for beginning.

Good work Wink It maybe useful for those who don't know the cache directory of PiSi.
