Most of you must have heard of archlinux. Because of my major issue I had to shift back to archlinux which I was using previously to pardus linux.
I am bring you some of the great features of archlinux that might help pardus to improve.

1) Rolling release: Archlinux follows a rolling release that means that there is no releases, that means take a old CD of archlinux, istall it and update it and you will get the latest release. It saves the burden to maintain so may releases and even old users are uptodate.
Debian and Mepis has started to use this system.

2) KISS principle: KISS is not just for GUI configuration but also for CUI. Archlinux has just one file RC.CONF which configures the entire system, its way way easier than any GUI control center.

3) Its Fast: Its faster than Pardus without any parallel running of services at boot. I cant explain this but you have it install it to see it.

I really enjoyed my experience with pardus linux thats why i want to see it improve because i feel it has the potential to take the first position replacing the lousy ubuntu. Grin

I installed zenwalk because i needed to print a report and i had a very urgent need for the printer to work, so i couldn't wait for the solution for this problem to be found. Sad

I want to make a request to the maintainer of cups package to please update it so that i can come back to pardus. Smiley

The problem hasn't solved yet. It wouldn't solve until there is a kernel 2.6.20 series available and/or the latest cups.

Mailman any idea when will release with kernel 2.6.20 series will be available.

And sorry to disappoint you but i have installed zenwalk linux for the time being.

I think its a problem with cups backend, upgrading cups to the latest version 1.3.2 might solve it.

p.s
I really don't want to give up on this distro.

Hey i found out the problem with printing. When i turn on the printer its detected by cups but when system uploads the firmware cups fails to detect it, as if the device is lost. Its a bug refer to the link:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.22/+bug/35638

I verified using the command:
Code:
watch -d --interval 0.5 lpinfo -v

The card reader problem is solved. Just type as root:
Code:
setpci -s 06:09.3 4c.b=0x02

Where should i put this so that its applied in every boot.
But what should i do about the printer?

I checked the package manager and found a udev package. So may be udev is not a part of the kernel.
71  Assistance / Laptop / Re: MAJOR MAJOR issue on: September 26, 2007, 20:49:58 PM
Can you boot back to the kernel before the updates take place?  I wonder if something got compiled a bit different or just didn't take with your laptop.  There's a new update on the kernel.  I just got my second kernel update this week, yesterday.

I tried but with same result.
72  Assistance / Laptop / Re: MAJOR MAJOR issue on: September 26, 2007, 20:19:57 PM
is udev part of kernel or userland tools?. I this the udev is working slow. why i am saying this is because my printer hp 1020 requires a firmware to be passed to it by the system, in other distros as soon i turn on the printer the firmware is uploaded but in pardus its taking some time to do the same about a min late. I think this is causing a time out for applications like kprinter when detecting the printer.

I know its a strange problem. Is it possible its a udev problem.
74  Assistance / Laptop / Re: MAJOR MAJOR issue on: September 26, 2007, 08:03:39 AM
I know sd card reader is a problem but it works in kubuntu 7.04 and the bluetooth is working fine i have tested it.

Yes i have updated my system, could it be a kernel issue as kubuntu uses 2.6.20
