76  Assistance / Laptop / MAJOR MAJOR issue on: September 25, 2007, 19:45:01 PM
I am facing major issues with pardus on laptop. Where should i start from.
1) The printer problem i had which i mentioned in the post http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php/topic,1261.0.html has resurfaced.

2) My SD card reader isn't working.

3) In built bluetooth sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

I first thought these problems are caused due to so many USB devices which are connected like my mouse, keyboard, printer and the external harddisk. Some thing to do with the power supply to these devices, so it tested them all individually after unplugging all other devices but the problem remains. Then i tried a kubuntu 7.04 live cd and every device worked just perfect, all connected at same time so its not a power supply issue.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I DON'T WANT TO SHIFT BACK TO UBUNTU OR KUBUNTU.

I wanted to know whether the forum software provide automatic translation?
78  General / General topics / Translation feature on: September 23, 2007, 14:29:09 PM
Is it possible to provide translation feature in this forum. It will be great if we could reply to some user's query which is translated to English from their native language and what we write in English will be translated to their native language.

Let me make it more clear. Suppose 'A' speaks Turkish and 'B' speaks English. When A enters the forum he sees every post in Turkish irrespective of the post's original language. Same goes for B. When A asks a query in Turkish B sees the post in English. And B can reply to A's query in English and the reply is translated to Turkish for A.

It will make a global forum, wouldn't it Cheesy

Before i tell you why I feel pardus is good let me first scrutinize some of the famous distros:

1) Debian and its derivatives: Ask some of the users of these distros 'why their distro is good' they will tell you because debian and its derivatives have a very large repository of softwares, and its easy to install these softwares and its easy to manage a debian based distro. But ask them had they ever used all the softwares provides they will say not, so then what purpose does a large repo serve. About ease of management then there are many other distros which are way easier to manage than debian example archlinux.

2)Fedora and its derivatives: Its easy, RPMs sucks.

This covers half of the linux distros out there does'nt it.

Let me now explain why I feel pardus is a very good distro. Pardus is build from scratch, that means developer knows every line of code, its easier to pin point the problem area. Pardus is optimized for i686, added performance boost. It has a GUI integrated control center, which is not there in the most popular distro ubuntu.

I am seeing a trend in linux distro that many new distros are mere  a pack of a already existing distros software packages, for example ubuntu is a collection of debian packages nothing new.

Yes, with some i have a brief experience, and with some longer.
83  General / Wish list / Re: How about dazuko on: September 20, 2007, 10:13:33 AM
dazuko is not a anti virus but a kernel module to provide file access control. It is used by Linux anti viruses like antivir , avg etc. Check the link i have posted and you will get an idea. It is also used by  klamav to provide on access scanning. Providing klamav and dazuko by default will act as added security, new user from windows will love it. Because windows users think that antivirus is a necessary part of any os.

Is it so impossible to create a virus which  can cause havoc in linux ? are my worries unnecessary ?

What do you think of my ideas zinden
86  General / General topics / Have some ideas on: September 18, 2007, 21:34:08 PM
I have few ideas to make pardus Linux popular:

1) Write lot of reviews on pardus Linux and post it on distrowatch. More reviews means more attention and in turn more people with give it a try.

2)Try to change the image of pardus Linux that its a Turkish Linux, which gives a feeling that its main focus is to be a Linux distro for Turkish speaking people which is not true. Focusing on English speaking crowd which gives a global image, like mandriva which has a global image but its French. How about starting with the website, how about defaulting it to english. Then on the CDs the first language should be english for selection.

3)Clicking number of times on the pardus link on the distrowatch rank list. Wink

I am really enjoying pardus Linux and i don't think it deserve such a low rank on distrowatch.
