What error message do you get when trying to install a package from command line (pisi it package) ?

I don't know wether Pardus can work without policy kit or not, since it manages every parameter configuration change in Pardus 2009.
There is a graphical manager in System Settings called PolicyKit Authorization (under the "Advanced" tab). Type "net" to display network-related rules and edit them.

What is the exact error message from Policy Kit ?

yum install on Fedora translates into pisi it on Pardus.

Have a look in /etc. Have you more than one mtab file (mtab~ for example) ? If yes, delete them so that there is only one /etc/mtab and reboot.

I read somewhere that the KDE 4.2 that Pardus 2009 is using has been patched in order to include certain features of the former developping KDE 4.3. I don't know, but I think we will get the full KDE 4.3 (or maybe 4.3.1) desktop in Pardus 2009.1.

If OpenSuSE handles the energy correctly, I suggest you write a bug report.

It's bug number 10034. You can add as a comment that you are among those experiencing it. Hopefully the increasing number of people suffering from it will trigger the developpers' attention.

A workaround is to install and use GDM instead of KDM.

As I understand it, he wants to install binary programs, that is already compiled programs. So he doesn't need to install gcc and make. Moreover, kernel-source are needed to compile the kernel, not another program.

To run a .bin or .run binary file, you first have to set executable permission :

Code:
chmod +x name-of-the-program

Then, launch it in the directory that contains it, with :

Code:
./name-of-the-program

NB : "./" is necessary. It means "this current directory".

That's good news. Thanks Michiel.
102  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Can't login - kde will not start on: August 16, 2009, 20:01:01 PM
That's probably because you started KDE as root.
When you are logged in as root, type Ctrl-D to exit and return to "dick" or type : su dick. And start KDE as "dick".
103  Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Can't login - kde will not start on: August 16, 2009, 11:46:33 AM
Does the following command say you (that is user "dick") own the file ?
Code:
ls -la /home/dick/.ICEauthority

If not, you can regain it with this command, as root :
Code:
chown dick /home/dick/.ICEauthority

Hi and welcome SOLITUDE,

Nvidia driver is included in the repository and is probably already installed. You should just have to select it in Configuration system > Display Manager > Device > configure.
I see but what is wrong with downloading and installing driver file from nvidia website? In all other Linux distros i had successfully install it. And as i said that's not only problem i have with installing packages under Pardus.

I't's not wrong to install a driver that is not packaged, it's just more complicated and troublesome than opening the configuration center and click three times.

If you need to compile a source package, you'll have to install development tools first as bubbel said. You can do this simply by typing this command in a console :

Code:
sudo pisi it -c system.devel
