1  Assistance / Bugs / Not a bug (i think ......) kernel update and GRUB issue on: February 21, 2008, 19:06:08 PM
Hi all!
In the last period that i've been using and updating Pardus 2007.3, i've noticed that after a kernel upgrade, that new entry was added in my menu.lst GRUB file.
Let's say that i'm upgrading from release 86 build 90 to the last build 99. So the kernel filename will be kernel- in both cases.
And let's suppose that we're doing more than one upgrade per release , you'll get having a long GRUB select list. (i know ..... edit menu.lst)
   Just wanted to point it....

Some days ago i wrote :
the easyest way to change that blue KDM background is TASMA
In TASMA , choose System -> Login Manager.
Press Administrator Mode button and enter your root pswd.
Go to the Background Tab and choose your favorite image .

THIS IS complete bogus. You will only show a wallpaper after you are passing KDM.
If you want to change the background of the KDM (the screen were you insert your username and psw), take a look into
If you want to change your KDM theme take a look at :
and follow the install instructions listed on every theme page.
4  Assistance / Bugs / Re: some problems...... :-X on: February 02, 2008, 13:50:31 PM
i've just did a
#pisi upgrade
and here goes :
  • the 2nd folder (Desktop1)  in my home folder is still there ...... Undecided
  • after a closer look at Kmix menu entry , i saw that the option "Show in System tray "was not checked (pretty strange for an app that it's main purpose is to work in sys tray....) and now it is working .
same thing can be accomplished by running
kmix --nofork
  • and TASMA now has Advanced KDE settings  Grin
5  Assistance / Bugs / some problems...... :-X on: January 28, 2008, 19:25:56 PM
Hi all!
First of all : thumbs up  Grin for the developers ! Great work! Keep it going !
I've installed 2007.3 and in my home folder there are 2 folders  one called Desktop (which is ok because it contains the home, sistem and trash desktop links) AND another folder Desktop1 (pretty strange  Huh?)  that contains only trash link.  I deleted the last one... but on my next login there it was again.
My sound is working, but kmix isn't starting, even if i open it from console. What should i do (i'm thinking of a full update Cheesy , perhaps that should do).

And one last thing: where is the old Kcontrol center? the native one? (i know......tasma is the "same" thing but i wanna tweak  some kde deamons....)
