1  Assistance / Software / A New Champion Has Arised!! on: February 12, 2008, 02:19:18 AM

I have to admit that Pardus is one of the better linux distros out there. It needs more work to support the wide variety hardware that is coming out these days. I installed Pardus on my toshiba, however, I wasn't able to get sound from the speakers. I tried getting drivers from ALSA but to no avail. And so I tried PARSIX, hailing from Iran. Installation was a breeze but what I was particularly impressed by was the graphics and resolution. I won't go any further into this because I think Parsix is good enough to speak for itself. All in all, I give pardus a score of 7.8 out of 10. PARSIX on the other has 9.5 out 10. Try it...   Shocked
2  Assistance / Hardware / No Sound from toshiba laptop on: February 08, 2008, 02:11:01 AM

I am impressed so far with pardus 2007 however I have a problem with getting sound from my laptop. The laptop I am speaking of here is a dual core toshiba L45-S4687 with integrated sound chip. I ran alsaconf from the konsole and it revealed that I have a:

(1)Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio sound card.

(2)Alsaconf also showed me that I have a Probe legacy ISA (non-PnP) chip.

I made sure that I unmuted KMIX but still can't get any sound why is that?
