I have been using PCLinuxOS for the past 3 years. I am happy with it.
Saw a very good review at http://cristalinux.blogspot.com/2010/06/final-review-pardus-20092.html
Did a spin of the installer in VirtualBox. Became very happy with the polish and attention to detail.
Hence have gone ahead and installed in a spare partition.
(Not yet been able to use it though - that is a different matter)

Hi sling-shot,

welcome to the "world of Pardus" !  Grin

I was also an PCLinuxOS user for long time. I helped in the German PCLinuxOS.de community (which is now closed) in their moderation team. After PCLinuxOS I founded the German Community for Pardus: www.PardusUser.de
Today (after two years) the German Pardus communtiy grows and grows. We just love Pardus!!!!  Cheesy

Pardus GNU/Linux is a great distro, enjoy it sling-shot !  Smiley

Hi caber,

do you know the featured PiSi repository of the German Pardus community ?

We're using "repoIndex" - which is developed by me. It's an PHP based repository manager with special features for PiSi packages:

Enjoy it! Wink

Hi Hendrikus,

you can believe me it's not just a book about howto compiling PiSi build files from SVN.

Compiling PiSi packages by "sudo pisi build /path/to/pspec.xml" is not a real "work". Everyone can do this. But before that you need valid build files for the PiSi package: pspec.xml, actions.py, translations.xml

This book contains even more information. It describes the the easiest way how to write PiSi build files from A to Z by lots of examples.

The PiSi build files on the SVN server are done by people who knows PiSi. My intention with this book is to "show/teach" others who don't now anything about PiSi and programming ...

Hope you understand, what I'm trying to explain ^^^ (sorry for my bad English).

Hi altogether  Smiley

Thank at all for your feedbacks!  Cheesy

This book is maybe not a > perfect < book. But it is a first step for making development of PiSi packges easier for everyone.

I'm planing to finish it until June/July 2010. The English translation will be released later (because by community-work Wink ).

9  Assistance / Download/Repos / Re: REPOS for Pardus 2009 on: February 04, 2010, 22:20:37 PM

Just add our repository to your sources-list and try to install Ekiga again - in tree steps below:

1.) Adding repository:
sudo pisi add-repo 'pardususer.de' http://pakete.pardususer.de/pardus-2009/pisi-index.xml.bz2

2.) Updating your packages list:
sudo pisi update-repo

3.) Installing Ekiga
sudo pisi install ekiga

The pacakge-manager will install all depending packages automatically.

Btw: You can browse our PardusUser.de repository by the online interface:

Hi altogether,

the German Pardus users community www.pardususer.de are proud to announce the first Book about PiSi titled "# pisi --howto".

This book is written by me, Gürkan Zengin. It includes detailed documentation about PiSi and many tutorials about building PiSi packages.

It's our first preview release ^^^ - the rest of it I'm going to finish by community work Wink

13  Assistance / Software / Re: KDE servicemenu "rootactions" on: January 20, 2010, 21:07:53 PM
If I understand correctly, you want want to say the official servicemenu-rootactions has a disadvantage over the one from the German Pardus users community repository Huh?

Right ^^^!

Our one has correct German localization, The actions.py is compatible with Pardus 2008x (KDE3) and 2009x (KDE4). I also modified the Perl-Skript of this service-menu (paths ...).

As I said, I'll inform the developer of the other package. So that he can implement our changes Wink
14  Assistance / Software / Re: KDE servicemenu "rootactions" on: January 20, 2010, 20:50:45 PM
No, I find kde-servicemenu-rootactions in http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus-2009/

Okay I understand. And here are the source files this one:

I should inform the developer oft this package, because my build includes some patches for Pardus

There are differences between both builds ^^^  Cheesy
15  Assistance / Software / Re: KDE servicemenu "rootactions" on: January 20, 2010, 19:46:11 PM
version 2.4.8 is am Pardus2009.1 repo
This means that  servicemenu-rootactions has now been included in the official Pardus repository.

Do you mean this:
