61  Assistance / Pardus Project / Re: Translation issues / REQUEST on: August 25, 2008, 16:41:44 PM
Several people have asked before, but I give it a new try.

There is a growing dutch, german, english and certainly also French native speaking Pardus users community developing.

There is a lot of online text in trukish available which appears worthwile and enjoyable reading by all these users (jncluding me) that do not understand turkish.
E.g. http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/forum/diger-masaustleri/665/?page=1

Is there really in the current community nobody who can translate turkish texts into either german, english, dutch or french so that others (including me) can help to further translate this to the just named languages?

Please make yourself known when you are willing to translate turkish Pardus related texts, it would be much appreciated I am sure!

Hi Michiel,

we (I and Claus) developing a portal for German speaking Pardus Linux users:
www.PardusUser.de

If I finished my work (I think next week), than PardusUser.de will be officially online for all Smiley

After PardusUser.de is online, I’m going to translate Turkish and English Wiki Articles into German. We will also try to write other interesting and useful articles too (i.e. workshops, tutorials, aso.).

Yours sincerely
Gürkan
62  General / General topics / Re: KDE4.1 anyone? on: August 25, 2008, 13:26:11 PM
Hi @all

KDE 4.1 in the Pardus Repositories isn't for production Desktop. It is stable but noch configured fully. Tasma, Package-Manager in example does still use the old KDE 3.5.9 interface. In K-Menu is not complete.

Quote
So I can install the 4.1 packages "in parallel" with 3.5?  In other words 3.5 won't be erased?

Yes, KDE 3.5.1 won't be erased but you also can't switch between KDE 4 and KDE 3.x at the login screen. Man can only use one of them. Deinstallation of KDE 4 is also very difficult (you cant deinstall KDE 4 by running KDE 4 session ...), you need to use an other Desktop i.e. FluxBox to remove KDE 4 packages.

I prefer to wait a while, until KDE 4 is default in Pardus ...
On the way, two screenshots of my "old" KDE 4.1 Desktop (I'm still using KDE 3.5.9)
63  General / Wish list / Re: Educational Software on: July 31, 2008, 12:26:12 PM
kdeedu contains only educational applications for the KDE Desktop. Gcompris is not a GNOME application - it is a separate development for GNU Linux. But there are also versions for MS Windos and Apple Mac available.

67  Assistance / Configuring Pardus / Disc Manager missing in Pardus 2008 on: July 22, 2008, 08:26:56 AM
Good morning to all,

does some one know, why "Disk Manager" is missing in Pardus 2008 (Tasma > System > Disc Manager) ?

I am sure me that it was present at Pardus 2007.3 - but I cant find it on Pardus 2008. Perhaps do I overlooking something? (I'm really confused  Huh? )

Ok, I think I know what you're looking for.
Open Tasma > Appearance & Themes > Background. Thre you will find a button named "Advanced Options". Click on it and configure your text color and background colors: (see screenshot)

Hast du auch alle Compiz-Pakete im Paket-Manger installiert?

Ohne die Compiz Configurations-Fenster wirst du wohl die Konfigurationsdateien von Hand mit KWrite ändern müssen ....  *gg*  Grin Cheesy

So in almost all cases the text will appear white.

Than I have to change Pardus button by using KBFX  Huh?
74  General / General topics / Re: Why does Pardus constantly stall and freezes? on: July 18, 2008, 12:55:57 PM
Hi Pashlit,

did you check MD5 checksum of your ISO image and CD after burning? I can't belive them, that Pardus generally freezes.

Perhaps your mainmemory RAM is corrupt?
