2 Andreas: as you can see it is done according to your example exactly but no change became, simply Pardus doesn't boot. PCLOS menu.lst timeout 5 color black/cyan yellow/cyan gfxmenu (hd0,0)/usr/share/gfxboot/themes/pclinuxoscz/boot/message default 0

reinstall grub by pclos cant be such a heavy task, cant it? Certainly it is not difficult task. But how can you explain me that I was able to boot Pardus via command rootnoverify.. etc immediately after installation of Pardus and adding of Pardus booting sequence to menu.lst of PCLOS ? But only once, second booting after PC restarting was already failing. This is very strange. Well, never mind. However thanks to all for their good-will to help me.

Have you used the setup command after editing menu.lst ? For details, see info grub . Why ? Menu.lst is textual file, where it is possible to add wanted sequences. I edited menu.lst many many times ( maybe 200 times) when I installed and tested a new distro and always all was without problems. ------------------------ 2 atolboo: thank you but unfortunately your solution didn't help me.

I understand you, but I can't comprehend why even command : title Pardus 2008 rootnoverify (hd0,4) chainloader +1 is not functional if I am (or was) able to boot to other distros (OpenSUSE, sidux, Mandriva) by that. I don't want to change Grub. There are more distros on my disk and I don't want to risk possible other malfunction during their booting. Here is menu.lst of PCLinuxOS timeout 5 color black/cyan yellow/cyan gfxmenu (hd0,0)/usr/share/gfxboot/themes/pclinuxoscz/boot/message default 3

Hello, you must register PCLinuxOS in the Grub from Pardus. I found this in the German Forum von PCLinuxOS Look hereGreetings Andreas How to register? And why ? I boot via GRUB from PCLinuxOS and there is added sequence for Pardus from Pardus Grub. Unfortunately that is German forum and I am able to speak German a little only. Can you explain it to me step by step what do you mean by that registration of PCLinuxOS in Grub from Pardus ? Thanks in advance.

Assistance / Installing Pardus / Re: Grub error for Pardus 2008
|
on: June 29, 2008, 18:06:11 PM

I have installed Pardus 2008 on my "Linux" disc. There is PCLinuxOS on the first partition, Pardus is on fifth partition. Bootloader of Pardus is installed to the Pardus partition. GRUB in MBR has been installed while PCLinuxOS has been installed, it means all booting sequences are written in /boot/grub/menu.lst in the first partition. After installation I have added the entry for booting of Pardus there title Pardus 2008 root (hd0,4) kernel (hd0,4)/boot/kernel-2.6.25.9-101 root=LABEL=PARDUS_ROOT vga=791 splash=silent quiet resume=/dev/sdb6 initrd (hd0,4)/boot/initramfs-2.6.25.9-101 but Pardus didn't boot and following error appeared on the screen: Error 2: bad file of directory type So I have added following command to menu.lst title Pardus 2008 root (hd0,4) chainloader +1 and this sequnce has been succeeded. But only once because for the second time already Pardus didn't boot and following error appeared on the screen: Booting 'Pardus 2008' root (hd0,4) Filesystem type is ext2fs , partition type 0x83 chainloader +1 Error 13: invalid or unsupported executable format
Really it drives me mad. Is anybody able to help me to find a solution ? Thanks in advance.
