Yesterday I purchased a (secondhand) Silvercrest 1.3 Megapixel webcam
. When I connect it to my Pardus computer it is recognized and the em28xx module is loaded.
According to /var/log/messages two devices are made: /dev/video0 and /dev/vbi0
Bus 001 Device 006: Id eb1a:2820 eMPIA Technology, Inc.
But when I try to get a picture of it, it doesn't work.
I tried the program "test-webcam", which uses mplayer. And mplayer gives me:
WARNING: YOU ARE USING V4L DEMUXER WITH V4L2 DRIVERS!!!
As the V4L1 compatibility layer is broken, this may not work.
If you encounter any problems, use driver=v4l2 instead.
Bugreports on driver=v4l with v4l2 drivers will be ignored.
And the program "webcam", which comes with xawtv, and should take jpeg-snapshots with the webcam, does not do that.
Does anybody know a workaround?
