How to can i use my dv-cam (sony dcr-hc19e pal) as a webcam with kopete or amsn? thanks... (I'm using ie1394 port)

Have you tried plugging the camera to the computer (using firewire=IE1394) and see what happens? I mean: look at what happens in the file /var/log/messages when you plugin the camera:
tail /var/log/messages
shows you the last 10 lines of this file.
Tell it here an maybe I can help you further (I hope).

if you have  tv card with video in (most tv cards have one) in your computer you can use your camera over s-vhs in asm or copete. connect your camera with the chinch conector. thats for additional information if you will not able to run it over ie1394.
