2007.3 successfuly installed.
However boot sticks after displaying word 'GRUB' on its own.
Would be grateful for help.
N.B. I have various linux live CDs so I could change the GRUB menu file to whatever it should be. BTW the boot defaults were accepted during install.

My entry for Pardus in grub.conf looks like this:

title Pardus 2007.3 [2.6.18.8-86]
root (hd0,0)
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/kernel-2.6.18.8-86 root=/dev/sda1 video=vesafb:nomtrr,pmipal,ywrap,1024x768-32@60 console=tty2 mudur=language:en
initrd (hd0,0)/boot/initramfs-2.6.18.8-86

You will need to change the root device and the path to the kernel and to the ramdisk to match your situation, but I assume you know how to do that?

Thanks for your swift response. Still the same unfortunately.

Ramdisk and kernel exist and have same path as you specified.

grub.config did not exist at all so I had to create it from scratch as well as device.map
Perhaps it is now my video settings (Advent 7008 laptop).

Puzzled as to why this should have happened in first place???

Decided to reinstall with 3rd (minimal) option.

Worked!  Smiley

I've been reading this and have been puzzled!  Glad it worked!
