I'm new to Pardus, and have been trying it out today.  I really like what I see so far!!  Very easy to install and tweek (I have been using Mepis so that has been a big help!)  I need a financial management program, something like Gnucash (that's what I'm familar with.)  I didn't see it listed in the repositories and haven't had any luck installing it from a download from Gnucash.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!  By the way, I'm not a newbie, but very close to it :-)

May I ask you why you have stoped using simply mepis? i have it just yesterday installed the 7.0 mepis, and it is very good and easy now. Also wireless connection is very good.
i have installed, pardus linux, mepis, and kubuntu 7.10.

You could take a look at Kmymoney. It's in the contrib repo.

Ilanesh:  I have liked Mepis 7, but I have had sound issues that I haven't been able to resolve (sound is fine for the first few minutes, and then it's gone.)  I also really like the visual look of Pardus better.  This linux stuff has been a real learning experience for me and I've enjoyed it a lot!
waterfietser:  thanks for the KMyMoney suggestion.  Thanks to Wiki I was able to figure out how to add the contrib repos and I installed the program yesterday.  Unfortunately I can't get it to import data from GnuCash but I might just begin a fresh start with KMyMoney.

I installed Pardus on my laptop yesterday (over Mepis) and same thing here...no sound.  I keep getting "artsmessage" notifications that the sound server is overloaded and to abort.  I click on the "OK" button and the notification goes away, only to have the computer freeze a few seconds later & then the message pops back up again.  When I reboot it seems to be all right (just no sound.)  With Mepis I was able to install a w32codec but don't see it available from Pardus.

ilanesh,

Skype 2.0 beta works on Pardus, too. You neeed to build 4 pisi packages by Pisibul.
1-binutils-2.18.50.0.3-21.pisi
2-libgcc-4.2.2_20071012-29.pisi
3-mpfr-2.3.0-8-7.pisi
4-gcc-4.2.2_20071012-29.pisi

then download skype 2.0 beta and test it plaese
